CarrionCrow: How do you know you've tried your hardest to get a serious haul out of a sale?

Answer - when you actually break your online banking because it can't process everything at once....-laughs-
avatar
Stilton: What'll your next likely purchases be - I'm not fishing, the bank has been stretched a bit this time out and I've still got a non-gaming family to gift for. Personally I was looking forward to the King's Bounty Viking update, but its had a couple of pretty damning reviews. Maybe that's why its cheap.
Honestly? Things in my sights that I know are going to be around til sale's end are items like the new King's Bounty since I've got all the others in the series, Escape Goat 2, Volgarr the Viking, Alien Shooter 1 and 2 (yes, I know I've said the whole Shooter series is crappy, and it is, but I still want to complete it.), In Cold Blood, Age of Wonders 3 and the DLC as a long shot (if ALL the bundles fall flat and I've still got coin in my pocket and they show up flash-style on the last day or something).

CarrionCrow: Additional - Damn it. I've read repeatedly how bad the first 2 Far Cry games are, so why do I keep getting the urge to buy them?

(Frigging forum glitch. I KNOW I hit the edit button, not the one for a new post....)
I've had nothing but fun out of the first one. No problems at all apart from a full-screen bug that jiggers with some settings somewhere (can't remember what). I played it windowed to my monitor size and it was fine. Really worth it in my opinion. The second game I tried and it was like groundhog day with no hope of escape. Not good.

Bad? Not really, but frustrating? Definitely.
Okay, thank you all for the info. Will hold off and hope that with the sale being so Ubi-heavy that a Prince of Persia bundle shows up. If it does, it'll probably be 75 percent off, no point in burning half the bundle price on the two Far Cry items.

You don't have to explain yourself to me. I understand completely, you've already been exceedingly generous, and the fact remains that NOONE, EVER, has to feel compelled to gift me things. Not why I'm here.

LeoLR: Far Cry 1 offers a good challenge in my opinion. I don't know about FC2.
The plot is not much to look at. Retired military guy gets a job he actually doesn't want and ends up involved in wacko scheme. It's something like that.
That would explain why I couldn't get into Far Cry.

Well, that and the fact that it's Uwe frigging Boll running the show....
I still remember first hearing about that and going, "You have GOT to be kidding me...."
Their movies are good for open MST3K-type mockery, but not much else.

This thing makes me shiver. It's dreadful.

Sure, I know that. It was more a reference to the playful back and forth we've had about blindsiding and getting in under the radar. Now, if my family were into all this stuff I'd be eager to spend more, but I'm something of a freak here. My better half isn't interested at all and my daughter likes MMOs and hardly notices anything older than last year, including me ;-)

I never understood how Uwe Boll manages to finance his movies.

I know you know. I just wanted you to know that I know. That you know. Or something. Confused yet? -laughs-
I get what you mean, to an extent. Have a couple people around, but neither of them have any real interest, certainly not like I do.
Only one person in my life who does, but they're already heavily geared up, so all I could really do is torture them with gift crap like pigeon simulators and soccer games. -laughs-

I remember hearing something about how he exploits German tax laws in order to get financing, and then when they inevitably bomb, it all ends up being some kind of tax break.
I'm not an expert on German tax law, so I have no idea how accurate that scenario is, but that's what I've heard.
Would make sense in a way. Someone has to have one hell of an angle to make as many shitpiles as he has and still be able to keep going.

Combine those two and you could have a new genre...

How are those? I've had the other two wishlisted for a while, thinking I'd pick them up on a good sale, but the discount on the new one has me eyeing it now.

A talking pigeon makes a deal with pigeon Satan in order to gain a human body and fulfill their desire to be with the soccer player they've longed for from afar for years. Only, and wouldn't you just know it, it was all a plan by pigeon Satan to engineer the birth of the pigeon antichrist, which you will then have to stop from destroying the world.
Kinda like Final Fantasy, only less moronic than how they've been doing things lately. -laughs- =)

Own all the others in the series, tried getting into them but failed to do so. Something about how they flowed was noticeably off. Made the gameplay less than stellar.

I've been fruitlessly trying to get my father to play some of my favourite RPGS. Unfortunately, he only wants to play old tactical games, and I hate those. It's really sad, because we have the exact same taste in lots of media, and I know he'd love the stories if he gave them a shot. I tried to get my mother into gaming as well, but she only wants to play the casual hidden object ones. I thought she might like point-and-click and introduced her to the Blackwell games, but she's put off by the pixel-style art.

At least I have my sister to game with. :P

The only games that my father has been interested in playing are the Settlers series (1-4). He was put off my 5. Last year i bought him Settlers 2 Gold Edition from gog so he could play that game again on the new PC.

Like me he is only really interested in playing singleplayer so was nice to see him happy about playing it again. :)
