ddickinson: Okay, so I'm reluctant to ask this, but I figured I would risk it. But please do not get any ninja gifting ideas.

What are the games in the D&D bundle like? I own Neverwinter Nights Diamond, but have not had time to play it yet. I'm trying to decide if the games are worth a try. I have not played many RPG's for quite some time.
Generally they are of excellent quality. The Baldur's Gate games are great, as the Icewind Dale games. Planescape: Torment is a consistently praised game and on many players' Top Ten lists. The NWN games are also of high quality.

These alone make the price far more than reasonable. The other titles are of less consistent quality, though The Temple Of Elemental Evil can be greatly improved by adding the Circle of Eight mod.

Overall a strongly recommended bundle. Tons of gameplay and good storylines to be had.

Well, Baldur's Gate is excellent. Good story, good characters, good combat. Baldur's Gate 2 takes everything good about the first one and increases it all by ten times.
The Icewind Dale series is for when you're tired of talking to everyone and their dog in Baldur's Gate and just want a simple story with a bare minimum of dialogue and a lot of dungeon crawling fun instead.
Planescape has an incredible story, tons and tons and tons of dialogue, good characters, great setting.
Temple of Elemental Evil is much more tactical. Everything is turn-based so you really have to think fights out even more. Problem is, Temple of Elemental Evil also has a lot of bugs. Troika always had problems with quality control.
Demon Stone is a pretty basic third-person action game, only you can switch between rogue skills, warrior melee and wizard shooting on the fly. Not fantastic but not awful.
Dragonshard is a real-time strategy game. Kinda clunky, kinda difficult, definitely more of a niche taste title, but still packing some decent bits if you're willing to contend with the aforementioned clunkiness.
Haven't had a chance to play Neverwinter 2 yet, so don't have much of anything to say there.
Aaaand the hubby races into the door and kicks my computer out of sleep mode to grab Alan Wake for me with just seconds to spare.

...I love him. Crazy to push that far when I said I wasn't going to worry because the youngest of the cats fell asleep on me and I didn't want to get out of bed. Well, I have the game now and grinning ear to ear.

Now I'm just in this sale for whatever may catch my fancy that's still on my wishlist but probably won't be able to get to playing for some time ( DRM free games are great to have when traveling so needed some for at least one trip early next year set up ).

Alright...so...waiting on the pizza to be ready and the kitten is dancing for joy over this new litter the hubby got for her today. o.O I've never seen a cat so happy over litter.

...can't go back to sleep. Too excited. Bah! I have a Physio appointment at 10:30 tomorrow morning...so guess not a good idea to sleep all day anyway.

Wow...I ramble. So......how's everyone today? :D
Thank you all for the recommendations. I will have a closer look at the bundle tonight when I get home and then decide if I will get them or not. Or more likely to try to talk myself out of it and use the money to get some gifts for other people or maybe more gifts for my Secret Santa. :-)

Baldur's gate and Icewind dale are definitely worth a try if you like crpgs. Nwn 2's campaigns are better than Nwn 1's OC, not that that says much. Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir has pretty good stories and some decent npcs. The biggest flaws with NwN 2 is its camera and the AI for the npc companions. I found the control of the party really clunky and took me a good amount of time to adjust to it.

Personally i prefered SoZ over Mask of the betrayer since it has an Icewind dale feel to it (you can create your whole party and you start from level 3). Not sure about the story later in the game since i haven't finished it yet, but seems decent enough.

Oh and the reason i disliked MotB was because of the spirit eater mechanics. I found it really tedious having to keep my eye on the spirit meter since you could instant die if it dropped too low. Other than that i enjoyed it, felt it a bit lacking with the romance choices though.

Anything else you wish to know?
WAIT. Someone mentioned Baldur's Gate!

Have to link to this now because this should win anyone and everyone over looking into Baldur's Gate!

moonshineshadow: People will probably not like this, but since I am already the outsider of the Viking Club being the outsider of the D&D-Bundle Club is also fine :P

I always hear that the games are quite good. But personally I found them boring, hated the isommetric view, the party management... never finished Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale or Neverwinter Nights... but perhaps it is just that these games are not my kind of games and you could like them a lot :D
Eh, you won't get flak from me. Every person has different tastes. :)

I personally love the party management and isometric view (my favourite type because it gives you full view over the battle field/map).

BG1 is probably my favorite video game ever. I still play it pretty regularly. BG2 is a close second. ID1 and Plan escape definitely fall in the top 10. The D&D bundle is the item that brought me to GOG in the first place.

Edit: check your PM, everyone should experience Baldur's Gate.

FoxySage: True vikings doesn't wear horned helmets. That is just for americanized, weak "vikings". :P

Walls will not hold the Winter sale, all in the way will fall
Actually, the first people to depict vikings with horns were...descended from vikings. Scandinavian artists from about the 19th century on can be blamed, as far as I remember.

Americans cannot be blamed for stereotyping all cultures, after all. /s

And you, you're on my list now as well! Be afraid, be very afraid! ;-)

Thank you to both of you for the generous gifts. I knew I should not have risked asking. I had hoped that my disclaimer would have prevented you for being your awesome selves.

Is it me? Or are the flash sales been repeating a lot?

This must be the 3rd time i have seen Far Cry and Broken Age on a flash sale. Thus far no games from my wishlist have been on sale (or i missed them XD cause humans are weak and need sleep)

I think you should buy something for yourself for once, especially those games. I can recommend them all, most heartily. Playing through IWD:EE and greatly enjoying it, especially as I've entered my favorite part of the game. http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Dorn%27s_Deep
