FoxySage: I' have seen it in the flash sale three or four times by now and i barely pay attention to the sale. Only looked on it a couple times and went back to doing other stuff. Did manage to scratch off a couple of games from my wish list this sale though. =)

CarrionCrow: Interesting. I've been going by RWarehall's spreadsheet on sale info alongside my own info on the sale. It's only got one appearance entered. Day 2.
Odd. I saw it on sale three or four times. Maybe it only came up once, but it got repeated two-three more times that day and the spreadsheet doesn't take into account that fact?

Was on the same day though that i saw it appear - just different times, so yeah that might be it.

It only cycled through once. I missed it by less than 40 minutes the one time it showed up. More than a little annoying, really. Stupid occasional need to sleep.
The titles are listed for 5 hours. that is usually enough time for me to grab a nap.

But it didn't. I recall it cycle though more than once. :( I remember seeing it because i was keeping an eye on long live the queen and blackguard special edition. I swear i saw it cycle through at least twice that day. :|

I can't be crazy!

innocuous77: I'd love to see the data as well (geek for numbers). I know that their marketing department isn't made up of gerbils. They've been brilliant in the past.
avatar
CarrionCrow: Yes, they have. But unless they're intending to blindside everyone by unveiling something else between the 16th and the 31st, I'd say they missed a major component this time around. And even then, sale fatigue has already begun to set in.
That was happening during the last sale, which this one is a carbon copy of.
Doing anything that people will want to have larger amounts of money for, anything grander in scale, is going to have a lot of pissed off people whose resources have been drained by the boredom twins sale(s).
They lost the plot... they started with a brilliant business plan. Then they extended that plan. Then they introduced really good games who would appeal to the oldies. Worked.

And now we're all twitter and the 'kids' and whatnot (mostly not) and GOG isn't even a shadow of what it was.
We haven't met... HI!

It' nice to see another living being around here.

innocuous77: Yeah! People!

Nice to meet you.
Hey, nice to meet you too!

Given the pace of this sale, I think you should change your tag to something more fitting with the struggle to stay awake. ;-)

innocuous77: [...]

The only thing I have to say to the GOG folks... last insomnia sale, I own PID.

[...]
Wow, that's what I call dedication.

And that's correct, it appeared sometime in the night Friday to Saturday (that is my timezone). FoxySage must be mistaken it for another title.

The Fall Sale and the Insomnia Promos cater to different parts of the customer/ user base. The former is not for the regulars that hang out in the forum and track down every title that comes up, it's for those that primarily go about other things and check the front page a few times a day to make a purchase. The latter is definitely for us nuts that spend lots of time here, and does also boost community spirit.
Since the former was first introduced as the Summer Sale, I assume that the numbers say that it's working for GOG, hence the Fall Sale and the Winter one. I do agree though that running the Winter one so close to the Fall one makes no particular sense.

Nintendo is coming to mind, with their decision to pursue the casual market at the expense of the far more serious core player audience. A decision they are now reversing their position on.

If you sweat it, then perhaps you should consider the case that you do mistake it for another game. ;-P
I'll answer later, but HI!

(poke poke... just testing)
