Stilton: People have complained about its form far outweighing the content, but from what I've played I really like it, and it looks utterly beautiful. At its current price and bearing in mind you'll be dazzled by the visuals while you're playing it, I'd say snap it up ;-)
avatar
Vythonaut: Stilton, did you finished it? Don't want any spoiler's, it's just that i read that it is intended to be the first part of a trilogy so i would like to know if there is an actual end to the story of the first part, or we have to wait for the next part...
I've only played the first half an hour or so, so I've no idea how it ends or if others are planned. But it feels almost like an event, like its interactive art and not just a game. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, I would consider getting it :-)

moonshineshadow: Now I not only hate the sale but you too :P

LaPtiteBete: What... but... Why the hell do you hate me ? ;-<
Because you could buy the bundle.... but don't take it to heart, I am just really grumpy at the moment... I think I need to go do something fun...

Getcomposted: So, Shadow Warrior 2013. What's it all about? Any good?
Yes! An old school style shooter with modern graphics, how could you not like that? On top of that you've also got a sword. :-) And at -90% this is almost a gift.

CarrionCrow: A question for you, Judas (good afternoon as well, of course) - Of all the games on GOG, what would you say is one that is criminally underrated and needs to be purchased/played by more people?
avatar
JudasIscariot: Ether One.

Most people would probably dismiss it as walking sim but it's actually a decent puzzle/exploration game that doesn't try to talk down to people with some sort of 2deep4u storyline. On top of that, the puzzles actually make sense once you take the time to examine how they are designed.

Bionic Dues is another underrated game in my opinion. While there may be a faux anime art style in some places the game brings an interesting mechanic to the roguelike genre without diluting the term "roguelike" in a way that a lot of action-oriented games do by misusing the aforementioned term. It's not a perfect game but I think it's one of those hidden gems in Arcen's stable that really should get more attention as it has that unique Arcen Games touch all throughout :)
Trying to catch up after a full day of no forum reading (due to work all day yesterday and work's Christmas party last night) and found this post.

Thank you Judas for mentioning Ether One. I pre-ordered it (which is something I never usually do) and I never regretted it. It can be a walking sim if that's your type of game - just wander around collecting the red ribbons and reading the notes; however, it can be so much more if you invest the time to complete the projectors.

What really struck me is how involved I got with the residents of Pinwheel without ever meeting them. It brought a lump to my throat when I read the newpaper report in the hotel about the mine disaster (no spoiler - this is a part of the storyline that's prominent throughout the game) and saw one particular name on there having solved the puzzle in the cinema and the doctor's office. Not to mention the letters in the mine...

If you're on the fence about this game - GET IT! If you like Myst style puzzles - GET IT! But don't forget to have a pen and paper handy because you're going to have to make notes. :-)

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated with White Paper Games. I'm just a very enthusiastic fan of their game who thinks everyone should give it a try! :-)

Yes, there is an end to the storyline and I think it could stand on its own. I'm not so impressed with the devs and how they handled the DRM-free release of the game, but that's beside the point.

calicogamer: I just wanted to say you all are so nice to each other and it's just really fun catching up on these threads even though I haven't ever said anything. I watched during the fall sale (and bought some games!) and now I'm back for this sale watching (and haven't bought games yet but I'm thinking about Gray Matter). Even this round of sale threads, you are all just still as nice. I wanted to say something during the fall thread but anxiety and all, and uh... okay bye.

(Also thank you to all of you that track things and that google doc thing is super great and it's all very helpful!)
Welcome to the madness. I was the same as you until the Spring Insomnia sale, now I'm always around the forums and sale trackers - or at least in and out as work/life allows.

As far as Gray Matter goes, I'd say go for it. I bought it on DVD last year and really enjoyed it (just don't IMDB the voice actor who plays the Professor - BIG disappointment! lol)

EDIT: Reading a little further down the thread it seems CarrionCrow has already resolved your should I / shouldn't I dilemma! (+1 to the birdie) I stand by my advice on the IMDB though. The Prof has a great voice, just leave it there! ;-)

What's the point of slowing the sale to a crawl on the weekend?! I could see monday, but saturday? I was looking forward to being able to keep up with the flash sales, but now...
eidt: by keep up I mean have time to watch them change

Grargar: Nope. About 39k remain yet.

IAmSinistar: Ta. Hopefully there will be a thread for giving those away when the time comes, since I expect a number of us snatched gifty copies out of pure reflex. :)
Yep!
The only game I don't have in the FPS-promo is SIN. Is it a good game?

Because weekends are generally slow on the Internet, people tend to do other things, AFK. If anything is to change, it won't be before Monday.

Hey Lynette! Nice to see you around! How have you been doing?

CarrionCrow: Yeah, it's a little quiet this morning. Not enough coffee in the community, I think. -laughs-
You my friend have been the bringer of good cheer to a lot of people in this thread. Allow me to reciprocate and check your PMs. :-)

OK, thanks for the info guys.. While the price is very good, I think it's better to wait until the trilogy is complete so i can play them back to back.

BTW, i just bought the FPS bundle (had already UT & DN 3D). Haven't played SIN before, i think Half-Life took all the glory and the sales back then. :-)

Need more FPS.. maybe Jedi Knight II... or Soldier of Fortune.. or NOLF? Just saying.. ;-)
Holy frigging crap....
Get off the phone, see a message, and it's Lynette blindside gifting me not one game, but an entire frigging bundle....
Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. =)
The slower pace on the weekend works just fine for me :) I have less time available to me on the weekend.

I'm not even sure what I'd be buying anyways. I can't buy off my wishlist, and Mr. Crow gifted me the one I was thinking yesterday.

Maybe I'll look at Ether One if comes back through again based on Judas glowing review. I bought Din's Curse based on Judas, and that turned out great!

Hey Lynette! Nice to see you around! How have you been doing?
Been busy the last few days at work and last night was my work Christmas party so I didn't get the chance to check in at all. I'm trying to catch up but there's over a dozen pages of posts since I last logged on to the forum - you lot are having way too much fun without me! lol

I see you managed to get some sleep finally. :-) I hope you're feeling better - you seemed a bit down in some of your posts on Thursday.

Right now I'm putting off doing some housework before I get ready for my gig tonight, but if I want the Christmas Tree up this weekend (and I do), I need to get off my backside and make it happen.

Just one more mug of coffee... ;-)
