ecamber: I'm shocked. This is not a smart move. Everyone's burned out from the last sale. They should have released some awesome classics in the time between the Fall and Winter sales, now we don't get any. :-(
If they wait to start their sale after the Steam sale starts or while it's happening they will sell much less. It's sadly true, Steam sales are hugely successful and nobody can face them right now. It may seem that the markets are different but I look at my coworkers and plenty of people that are buying today on GOG would have just bought on Steam if they would have started their big winter sale.
Xenonauts: Too many conflicting opinions on that one, I'd just buy it instantly and see for myself but at $12.49 it's still a bit above what I'm willing to pay for a game I don't know.

Could anyone lay down the law and tell us who are on the fence if this game is satisfactory to a classic UFO fan?

In worst case I can download the demo but opinions would be much appreciated.

Nice, now even the bundle pages make my CPU sweat and my fans spin up. Thanks GOG for screwing up the site more and more!

I loved it. It seems a bit harder to me than the original, but overall had the same feel for me. I was not personally a big fan of the added Air Combat (probably because I sucked at it), but it is easily bypassed with AutoCombat option. I am waiting for the Community Edition (added maps and mods) to play again for my 4th run through.

I agree. This is way to early for the winter sale. I was expecting the sale to start a week before christmas.

Definitly agree on that.
I will pick up some of the games on sale and maybe pick some giftcodes to be delivered as presents for close friends!
But anyways, this wasn´t highest priority!
Please GOG, don´t do a christmas sale this year. Do an epic christmas present containing tons of appreciated releases like the missing LucasArtsGames, the missing IndieClassics (Like Braid or Bastion or SuperMeatBoy and so) or at least something comparable in quality! But please: Don´t do anymore sales this year! You can start over at new years eve, OK, but NOT WITHIN the core dates in this month!
(12th November -> 12 Dezember: Ten days had no MegaSale---ways more sale days than days without it!)

It's on sale now in case you haven't noticed. :)

Thanks for the info!
Is there any reason why one needs to buy this if one still has and enjoys the old game though? I don't mind the old graphics.
So far, the only difference seems to be that you can directly steer the interceptor jets in Xeno but are there any other notable differences?

Same here. I should be thankful for getting so spoiled with great offers but I burned too much money on the last one. On the other hand, I don't expect to be less broke at the end of the month, in fact it will only be worse so no big difference I guess.
I just vowed the other day not to buy another game for the next couple months but my early New Years resolutions are promptly shattered to dust :D

All men must die, I mean buy!
Nice give-away, a strategy game. Unfortunately I already own it.
Don't you get a gift code this time when you already own the game?

I believe that is the case, and has been on previous GOG giveaways. I think some folks have already received a giftable copy, but mine has not arrived yet (hours after I clicked).
Dammit, why isn't Outcast on sale any more?

Ah, maybe their servers are stressed a bit sending out ten thousands of mails. :)

At what number did the counter for Age of Wonders start? 250000?

Caine123: the thing is that gog.com has less games than steam and every sale the same games are discounted :(
And GOG has much worse language support for the games. Even shinyloot has e.g. the DRM-free German version of some games which GOG still has not.
Anyone else having problems getting the free age of wonders? I didn't look through the whole thread, but did do a search and didn't see anyone else having the problem.

I clicked the button this morning, and it's been switched over to the "Thank! You will get your game soon" message pretty much all day. But, it's not in my account and haven't gotten any email confirmation. My brother clicked it I think after I had, and he's already got a confirmation email. Should I be concerned?
