Thanks for doing this, a big +1 to you! Looks like the ones I'm still waiting on will probably roll through in my sleeping hours (hey, this ain't Insomnia). But since they are virtually guaranteed to come around again, gives me stuff to look forward to. And if the worst case scenario is that I get them for "only" 50% off, I think I'll manage. :)

Very impressive, but I only signed up to GOG.com in February this year! :-o

Out of the top 22 there are seven that I don't own, five of which I have on CD (making them lower priority to purchase than games I don't own, but I *do* intend to replace with GOG versions eventually) and only two that I really don't have much interest in. There are also a several games I don't officially own but have bought gift codes for to give away at a later date or that I have already donated to foxworks and Sachys for their BBBBoB Giveaway.

I'll be a fully fledged GOGlodyte yet! :-)

Yeah, I'm totally all for replacing old CD/DVD games with GOG digital downloads DRM-free, at least the games I actually want or might want to play again sometime. I went for a year without even having an optical drive in my computer and just bought one a few days ago and had a friend give me one one day later, so I'm back in the CD/DVD game now but I really dislike having to fiddle with media and CD license keys and all that crap, and especially dislike having to swap disks around for multi-disk games that need to access another disk at runtime because the game doesn't install the entire contents onto the hard disk. I'm not sure how many games I've bought on GOG that I have bought on CD/DVD back in the day or had given to me but it's probably a dozen or more. Then there is quite a number of games that friends left copies on floppy/CD/DVD/ISO images etc. of over time which it's nice to be able to buy on GOG and discard the old hackish media to have a reliable updated fully functional copy that is hassle free. I've probably bought 40 or more games from here like that and converted a lot of old copies of games on CDR etc. to coasters. hehehe. One of these days I need to dig out the old boxes of ancient games and make a list of those I'd like to own on a digital distribution platform, and then hope they're available on GOG or will become so some day.

It's funny because I used to be super hardcore all about owning physical media I could hold in my hand and that way I knew I owned it, and I was not too keen on digital downloads of any kind and resisted it for a long time. Joined GOG in 2009 for some freebies (Tex Murphy) and didn't pay much attention to the site after that until early 2012, then I bought my first games here in Oct 2012 and since then I've pretty much embraced digital download gaming not only on GOG but on Steam and other sites as well. Of course my strong preference is GOG and DRM-free but I'm a little flexible too. It's so much less clutter to deal with, and so much easier to get game updates, find the manual, maps, keep track of it all, etc. And with high speed broadband, it generally takes less time to download and install a game if I don't already have it downloaded than it might take to find the CD/DVD and install from that. I can literally download from the Internet *faster* than the fastest normal CDROM drive for example.

Likewise, my preference for other forms of entertainment/media have moved away from shiny disks to electrons travelling over copper as well. Now I just need to actually rampage around the house and collect up all the physical clutter that's been replaced with electrons and box it all up and stuff it in a corner in the basement. hehehe.

Technology is just wonderful.

It's a great game, a friend brought it over one night and I got to play it for about 4 hours and it was pretty fun and great humour. It's worth it for that price *especially* if you have any children around, kids of all ages as well as adults all seem to have a blast with the game from what I've read online and talking to people. Another buddy of mine bought it and his 5 year old thinks it's the best thing ever. :) Very cool to have a game like that which can appeal to and entertain all ages.

With my existing backlog though I think I'm going to pass on it for now and wait for a future sale where it is under $3 as I probably wouldn't end up playing it between now and then anyway. ;oP Still a good price at $5 though!

My sweet spot used to be $10 or less years ago in the bargain bin boxed game days. If I found any game I was interested in under that price it was instabuy for me. Then I had some less than stellar experiences with some Ubisoft and EA games and their DRM preventing me from playing the legitimate game I purchased and I stopped buying games altogether around 2007 or 2008. GOG got me back into buying games again both here and beyond though, but I'm usually very careful about what I buy now. My sweet spot started out online at $10 or less too, but I quickly discovered that endless games were $5 or less and started buying tonnes of them at that price to the point where I realized games above $5 would become under $5 within 6-12 months generally speaking except for the most popular AAA titles that have gaming longevity such as those that tend to dominate Steam's top 10 to 30 list for example (and even some of those are cheaper), so my sweet spot dropped to $5 pretty quickly simply due to the market having endless games in that range.

Then I discovered bundles and deep discount promotions such as the current GOG sale and similar sales at other sites, and of course freebie promos and various giveaways. It becomes harder to pass up such good deals on games you're interested in and so as the backlog catalogue grows, like many gamers I find myself willing to either pay less and less for individual games that I'm not jumping out of my socks ot play immediately and which will sit in my backlog queue for an indeterminate time period, or I'm comfortable waiting longer for them to hit that sweet spot. ;o) Games that are the exception to that are games I'm tripping over myself eagerly anticipating playing while foaming at the mouth, such as The Witcher 3 for example. :)

What I'm finding now though too, is that even games I'm eager to get right away to play, often are sequels to games I have not yet played at all or not completed, and I'm a bit of a completionist that wants to play all of the games in a series in-order. As such, I will sometimes hesitate to buy games that I desperately want too, simply because I want to play the entire series /first/ and then the new game and I know it's going to be a while before I get around to it especially if a game has 5 or more sequels for example. In my mind I know that by the time I finish all the previous games and get to the newest game, 6-24 months might have passed by where that "new" game would have sat there the whole time and it's price will have come down significantly in the mean time, so I end up not having that burning whimsical purchase "MUST BUY RIGHT NOW" feeling most of the time due to having game saturation. :)

Very very few games will burst my bubble as a result and make my wallet sprout cash like a garden hose. The Witcher 3 will probably be the next purchase of that sort that I make, but probably not until either just before the game is released to get in on the pre-order bonus (normally I never do pre-orders), or just after its release, but I'm feeling some strong "before" vibes going on and think this title will bypass my "finish the previous games first" general sentiment simply due to the immense awesomeness hehe. Cyberpunk 2077 certainly will too eventually.

So... it's not so much that I'm "cheap" per se, but more a matter of practicality ending up dominating emotional purchases for me. Sometimes I do kick myself for that though! There's one other title on GOG right now that I desperately want and meant to buy when it first came out but have not done so yet because I never finished the other titles in the series, and I'm actually feeling bad about that and may eventually crack and go for it. :)
