Phantasos: It's only me or they reduced Banished discount both on steam and here ?
avatar
mrkgnao: No change here. It's been 50% all along.
Don't know what you mean by "Steam".
As an euro-user I can understand you . lel

In Steam it had a bigger discount at some point because it was in a flash sale.
Like mrkgnao pointed out, it has had the same discount here during the sale.

So, no opinions on Ether One?
avatar
bernstein82: Now compare this to these steam prices :
- $25 : Space Rangers HD (2002)
- $26 : Baldurs Gate 1 EE (1998)
- $27 : Rise of Nations (2003)
- $31 : Baldurs Gate 2 EE (2002)
- $26/38 : Age of Empires 2 HD (1999)
- $38 : Age of Mythology EE (2002)
avatar
madth3: The Baldur's Gate are the "Enhanced Editions" which are not exactly the old versions of 1998 and 2002.
Yes these are all updated versions. They all have in common that they are mostly just patched up to run well today (multiplayer / current screen resolutions) with minimal interface/content tweaks... Yet with the help of existing community patches all of the above gog/original versions run as well.

So while the HD/EE versions might be well intended, in the end at these prices its just a ripoff. I mean $25-38 for almost fifteen year old games while i can get most 3 year old games for half the price????? Thanks, but no thanks.

No opinions? It's one of the best adventure games in GOG's catalogue! Thrilling and deep story, beautiful graphics, amazing soundtrack and clever riddles. It's sooo climatic, if I can say it like that - it totally sucked me in.

Frankly, the soundtrack by N.J. Apostol is one of the best game's soundtracks I've ever heard, and I have to say that I'm a soundtrack guy. Ether One is worth the full price, you have to experience it by yourself!

I bought Ether One in this sale, played it for a bit and to me it's amazing. If you like adventure games with mystery and detective work you might like this one. I like the art style, it's like walking around in a painting. To me it was worth it even if I have just started playing.

Thanks, just watched the trailer and screenies... added to wishlist, looks pretty cool.
Much appreciated, zeffyr and amund. Sounds like I should pick this up then. Thanks!

Tekkaman-James: So, there aren't many flash deals that I am still waiting on (thank goodness). One of the games I am curious about is Ether One: Deluxe Edition. It's a bit pricier than most of the games I've picked up during this sale (heck, even pricier than some of the bundles), so I am curious what people think of the game vs the price.

Obviously, it's a generous discount off of its regular $30 price tag, but "cost" and "worth" are two different things. It looks gorgeous and very Myst-esque, but I've read online that it is also very short (around 3-4 hours). So, is the $7.50 worth my curiosity, or should I just be glad with the mountain of games I have already and give this another shot somewhere down the road when it might be cheaper?

Thanks in advance for any input you all can provide! ^_^
I pre-ordered Ether One back in March and as far as I'm concerned, it's worth every penny of it's undiscounted price! If you like Myst type puzzle solving, I think you'll defintely enjoy Ether One.
Thanks, LynetteC! I have been solidly convinced. I will snag it the moment it comes around in the Flash Deals again.
i just want to endorse ittle dew again.

just finished playing it from end to end [minus one bit of paper which is somewhere in a dungeon and i'm not about to go hunting.] and had a blast. the master cave is a collection of interesting puzzles [though, some of them require silly timing to get right] and while i liked the idea of the end boss, i didn't like that he was - after twelve thinky puzzles - a twitch battle.

but if you see it rotate in and you like the idea of some zelda mixed with some sokoban, it's totally worth the price. it took me 13 hours to finish. [it'll take most folks with better eyesight and better reflexes a /much/ shorter time to beat] i had a blast all the way through.

so is this likely the last time we see the rotation for a given game on flash deal?

Niggles: so is this likely the last time we see the rotation for a given game on flash deal?
The guess is that tomorrow will be like the 18th was, and all the games should still rotate a couple more times if that's the case
