Cyberevil: Yea I hate having Skyrim on there though. Mine is VERY modded and sure it makes it a tad unstable, but I know that the "steam updates" CTD me just as often as my own obsession with mods.
How much was that in USD so I can cry?

Well at least you didn't tell me $45. I think I have $90+ in Skyrim and none of that other stuff though so still a bummer...

Would love to have the MW and Obl GOTYs not to mention all that Fallout stuff.

I don't ever really log onto steam though, so it's not at all surprising that I'd miss that sale
I pop in to say hi and see that I have entered mid-battle and left my sword and shield in my locker.

Perhaps the pen may be mightier than the sword in this case, especially when used as a weapon aimed at the throat or other vital spot :P

Nah I won't bite on the Steam vs GOG, DRM vs no DRM as I'll be beating off a dead horse :P

I think we're past that though... and onto asking you how you are doing. What's the update on the hand injury?

Yeah that's the expression but I can't help but be silly and resort to innuendo with everything I say when I'm tired :D

lol you do know that there are professional animal wankers? The things one learns when one has a girlfriend who studied a precursor to veterinary science. Was tempted to take this thread right into the gutter but I shall refrain...for now :P

I loved it! I read it and then I reread it because I wasn't sure I read it right, then I busted out laughing and scared my wife and kids!! ;-)
The good news is that I managed to get a little money to spend on sales. I'm sure I'll regret it when the next bill comes in, but fuck it I was in a mood where I was in serious need of retail therapy :)

Mission accomplished. My humour is usually just to give myself a chuckle but if it works on someone else too, that's a bonus!

I know there are! lol I used to work as a pig breeder and we used tubes of pig sperm to inseminate the sows. I once asked the boss where it came from and he told me about the guys that do that work. It takes all kinds!

Well, I'm not sure what time it is Down Under, but here in Ontario it is 10pm and I have 1 last day that I have to get up early and get the kids off to school! THANK GOD! Then I can start really getting serious about playing some games!
I never said Every game has a non Steam version. In the same comment I mentioned Skyrim that I assume only has a steam version and is scorned by some terribly abusive forms of DRM.
I only meant, If you hate steam that much to hack your games out of it, but the only way you can find them is with steam,
Just pirate them altogether in the first place. The only two reasons Not to do so is Publisher and Multiplayer support.
Hopefully the Gog Galaxy platform would be able to offer even those publishers what they need DRM-Free,
and the ones that prefer to stay only with steam for no consumer related reason shouldn't benefit from your money anyways.

I for one never had an extensive steam library, and once GOG announced they'll publish new games too never looked back.
I now see steam for what it is - a giant rental frontend with lots of free gameplay and numerous activities, occasional freebies (some with time constraints such as free weekend, while others have a longer duration) and great ways to find out about games to buy *DRM-Free somewhere else (and preferably on GOG**). Or, in the case there is no better solution, rent for a small fee somewhere later along the way when it shows for a "fair rental price", what others may call a promotion.

*As only DRM-Free** with no required online service variants can be related as games you actually own (rather then rent).
** Also due to GOG doing all the hard work for me by patching dosbox/port/etc versions to work while removing older nuisance such as Original CD requirements, Codes to look in the Manual or CD-Key for offline single player,
but having those in a working condition product still makes it owned and much better then a "DRM Free" steam only rental...
at least until steam itself offer officially a special offline client aimed for Single Player only games without DRM that could be placed on physical media and will never require an internet update.
