IanM: had to chuckle at this list, it is good and +1 for taking the time to post it! but I was interested in the idea of splitting tabs specifically :)

skeletonbow: Ah, I've used both of these and they are useful:

Sadly both of these leak quite a lot of memory / make my firefox sluggish after a few hours... The same is true for most tab group related extensions... So i switched to using 10 or more windows :-)
