Gnostic: I heard some crazy DRM stuff that comes with AC and lost all interest. Now that I got it on GOG, it have to wait for my massive backlog so I am in the never played AC group.
I've never even seen the Assassin's Creed games except for trailers but they looked fun so I wishlisted them. Of course since they're Ubi games I wont buy them except DRM-free, and while I anticipate owning the GOG version of the game that is here, like a number of bigger name popular titles it never seems to go on sale as low as it does on other sites. I don't mind paying a slight premium for DRM-free but it has to be reasonable compared to other storefronts (even though I'd never buy the DRM-loaded version). I'm not opposed to paying the higher price here either but I only would consider that for games I'm aching to play and want to play immediately, but with a huge backlog of tonnes of games I want to play a higher priced title like AC I'll probably hold off on for some time until it hits a deeper discount or something makes me want to play it sooner or something. :) If I thought buying it right away would encourage Ubi to bring more games here right away I'd buy 10 copies, but I don't think that'll ever happen. I think they dumped off a handful of games here to test the water and walked away because we never see new Ubi titles show up anymore. I hate to say this next part and hope I'm wrong about it too, but I wouldn't be surprised if in 3/6/9/12 months or so if we see the Ubi games vanish from the catalogue like Bohemia too. I hope the opposite happens but we seem to be losing more and more titles as of the last year. ;/
KunoNoOni: I had clicked on the new XCOM game and at the bottom they showed 3 of the old XCOM games, I had forgotten there were two more games.
Back in November I bought an XCOM collection from either Amazon or GMG for $10 which came with 6 XCOM games, all of the originals plus the new Enemy Unknown. It was prior to the expansion Enemy Within being released though so I don't have that. I flipped out because Enemy Unknown was regular $29.99 or so on its own and I got the entire game series including all the originals for $10! Friggen crazy shit! I've put 70 hours into XCOM UFO Defense since then and the game works better now than it did in MSDOS back in the 90s too. No audio clickety clickety stutter like the original was plagued by. Game works flawless! Everyone looks at me crazy for playing an "old crappy game with shitty graphics that looks boring as hell" but they're fuckin nuts. XCOM UFO Defense is an all time classic times 10 and I played the hell out of it in the 90s but never finished it due to a computer failure and never got a chance to get into it again until this year. :)
You can't go wrong with XCOM! I'd recommend getting a pack that comes with the new game too though as it is ridiculously awesome too although I'm holding off on playing it (just played it for a few hours to check it out) until I complete each game in the series first. :)
