LynetteC: I think you're right about the 'Old School Gaming'. Not only because of the price of games then, but also because back in the day, content was everything. There was no full orchestral soundtrack and fancy, realistic 3d graphics so there had to be gameplay. My favourite example of this is Ultima 4 - The Quest Of The Avatar. The graphics are only 16 colours, the music was basic midi but the content; oh my, that game would keep you trekking across Britannia from one town and shrine to another and back again for DAYS on end. One of my all-time favourites.

And from one of my favourites to another - Sacred Gold. What a game! I may snag a gift code next time it comes around just so that I can introduce someone to it's fabulousness! lol

What character do you play? Every time I re-play, I intend to try a different character but always end up a vampire. :-)

Cyberevil: Jesus and a Vampire?

Talk about two opposite ends of the spectrum!

(I REALLY hated U-4, guess I just wasn't up to the moral challenge... Hell i couldn't even bring myself to say I wasn't proud when asked!)
hehehe That's me, just one big ball of contradictions! Although to be fair the vampire in Sacred drank a Seraphim's blood and is no longer completely evil, so maybe not as polar opposite as it would first appear.

txnca: We grew up with Space Quest and Kings Quest. Can you imagine rushing through them? Not hardly! Heck they are hard enough without that headache!
Believe it or not I missed out on most of those games. I did play one of the latter KQ games though and enjoyed it back in um... 1999 or so, and that made me buy the entire Sierra <everything> Quest collection on GOG although I have not yet started playing them, but it is a plan to go through every one of them one of these days. ;o)

justanoldgamer: <---

I like it.

Edit:
I like LynetteC's better.

txnca: Me too!
Aww, thanks. :-)

madth3: Can you imagine the meetings?
Would we plan meetings to plan meetings though? :)

justanoldgamer: One never know on the internet but I don't think LynetteC would like a beard.
I mean it in the sort of UNIX admin Star Wars nerd metaphorical sense. :)

Space Quest series is a hoot! Kings Quest not so much but still a great series! Besides the AD&D Gold Box series, Space Quest is my all time fav series! I already own all of them but bought them here on GOG so I can play them again!
Out of curiosity, are people buying up bundles now or waiting til later? (And buying up stuff to complete bundled of games already have).so tempting right now:).

Let's take it slow and let me ponder that for a while...
Hmmm I'm not sure there is anything left I feel I must buy at this point... There's a few I'm curious about, like Tropico 3, but I really hate it when the trailer has no actual game play in it. It tends to make me real suspicious.

I bought all the bundles I wanted today. I doubt that they will be lower the prices anymore than they already have with those. As for filling in the ones that are missing from the bundles, it depends on the person and how bad they want the complete series.

i concur with this completely. king's quest is the kind of thing you have to be in the mood for. space quest is almost always just a rollicking good time. [unless the game makes you do something completely dumb - like the hedge maze in the seond game.]

budejovice: Yes, definitely hinted. I let it drop when my shelf hit 300 on the first day, but my totals won't be updated here for a while. :)

I've bought a few gifts this time as well. I'm certainly not in the same realm of gifting as you, but I am enjoying it!
avatar
txnca: Let drop you hit 300 on the first day?! I missed that it seems. So, If you have been buying a few a day and today bought a couple of bundles or so, then somewhere in the neighborhood of 350 would be my guess. ;-D
300 total GOG shelf milestone hit on first day. You're not too far off for current. (H-H-H-HIGHER!)

I've decided to buy the Two Towers and I'm inclined to complete my Legacy of Kain games but I'll wait till the 27 and 28 of June because if I wait I'll have to pay those a month later on my credit card. Also, I might feel tempted by a few final flash sales and/or other bundle (if there is a repeat on the 29) depending on if I get to purchase anything on that other sale that starts soon. (Although my wishlist there is quite short)

I think they through that in there just to piss us off! lol
Quick question: Has anyone noticed whether Gothic, 1849 or Star Control 3 have gone on a flash sale at any point this week? I'd like to know whether it's worth it to stay up all night to keep checking, or just buy them at 50% off already and get myself a good night's sleep.

Sleep!

(They probably won't show up on a flash sale. There is the Gothic bundle up now, but does not include the original [different publisher].)
