All this talk of WW1 flight sim games and I just spotted a post on RPS about ILya Muromets from the IL-2 Sturmovik creators. Links:

phaolo: Guys, I'm always skipping these, tell me if I'm mad or if shouldn't worry anymore in this promo, please:

Probably bad titles:
- Tiny and Big
- Bloodrayne 1
- Bloodrayne 2
- Syberia 2
- 11th Hour, The

Probably average games:
- Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology -> I have B1
- Hammerwatch
- Capitalism 1
- Capitalism 2
- Children of the Nile Complete -> I have the previous 3 IG titles
- Botanicula -> I have Machinarium
- Disciples 1 -> I have D2
Tiny and Big is pretty cool, actually. And Syberia has its defenders.

Meaning go fly a kite! (according to Google Translate). :)

Damn... I just remembered how much fun I've had playing Gunship 2000 on the Amiga. What a fantastic game...

F'n A! Now you're talking! Only difference is that I started out with it on the Commodore 64 and had a blast while thumbing through "Comute!" magazine and friends looking at screenshots of the Amiga version and sobbing, but it was still a lot of fun. In fact... I have the original Gunship 2000 box fully intact for C64 in the basement and if the media hasn't bitrotted from sitting there for 20+ years it might actually still load up on a C64 too. Totally going to have to try that some time. :) Either that or wire up a 1541 drive to the printer port and try to transfer the game to the computer for use in an emulator. What a trip down memory lane that would be for sure. That was I believe my very first flight simulator and first helicopter sim also. Lots of fond memories, and it was a real challenge to get the medal of honor too. I missed the hell out of the game for years until a friend surprised me with a gift of Janes Longbow in the late 90s. Really wish I could get that to work in Windows 7. I'll have to surf the net one of these days in search of solutions from people crazier than I with solving old game problems I guess.

Gunship 2000 did not have a C-64 version, you're thinking of Gunship.

Easy, install VirtualBox with the 3D acceleration patch and Windows XP. Then away you go!

Ooo, you're absolutely right! Here's the one I have: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunship_%28video_game%29 I do remember Gunship 2000 though and drooling over it in ads too. I semi-remember either playing it or watching my buddy Ross play it, don't quite remember. I see there was also a "Gunship!" released in 1999 which I'm not sure if I was aware of or not because well... braincells fade over time hehehe. It would be awesome for GOG to be able to score any of these titles though, I'd buy them all no hesitation.

Some good memories coming out today in here, both real ones and memories of dreaming/drooling over games as well. :)
Gunship on the C-64 was an incredible feat of programming. The low frame rate made it very difficult to have an immersive flight sim on those first home computers with a 1MHz clock speed but Gunship achieved that.

I've got virtualbox running already 24/7 and I've experimented with using 3D with XP with very poor crashtastic results. When you say "with the 3D acceleration patch" BTW, do you mean enabling 3D in the Vbox manager for the VM, or do you mean some downloadable addon patch of some kind? If there is some addon, I haven't tried that.

It has been a while since I've used it but here is the link to the information and the "Guest Addon" for 3D acceleration. It is some kind of addon as I remember installing it when I was running XP so I could play Railroad Tycoon 3 which requires 3D accelration, something that Virtual PC (from MS) didn't have.

Ah.. Yeah I always install the guest addon in all VMs or the GUI sucks rocks and is stuck in a window the size of my thumb on my 30" display. :) Yeah, unfortunately the 3D is just not stable and reliable but they don't hide that in their docs at least. I really should try to do the same thing with VMware Player one of these days, I haven't used it since I switched to Virtual Box about a year ago so I could run as many virtual machines (usually up to 8) simultaneously without having to pay money to the man. VMware is a more reliable but less free-to-do-what-you-wish solution. :) I should try it though for the gaming thing at least.
Finally grabbed GRID on flash rotation, makes 4 games for me now

Just looking at VMWare Player. It does support 3D acceleration, about like VirtualBox does. Might work better, not too sure since I didn't have any trouble with it myself. Lets face it hough, Railroad Tycoon 3 isn't a high end 3D Game! lol
That's a great deal on Commandos and Desperados, hope people are gobbling them up! I'm quite sad I have only some of my Commandos games on GOG to take full advantage of it.
