animalmother2105: Actually, the above mentioned Pacific Fighters is included in the Il-2 1946, which is available here on GOG. It is true, that it is a realistic as a computer game can be.
Cool, I wasn't aware of that either. I bought it a while back on GOG knowing it had extra stuff over my DVD edition but the GOG game page is notoriously lacking in explaining what exactly is included and doesn't mention Pacific Fighters anywhere. It would be nice of them to expand the text "all 4 expansion packs" to indicate their individual specific names like most GOG game cards do to be clear as the sky. :)

I haven't actually installed it since I picked it up so wasn't aware. I looked it up on Wikipedia though and it includes a crapload of stuff and Pacific Fighters as you say. Too bad Modern Air Combat isn't included hehe. I got all 3 in one boxed DVD set. :)

Cyberevil: I agree! I loved this game as well as Aces of the Pacific, KoTS, and to a lesser degree Chuck Yaeger

foxworks: Chuck Yeager Sims brings back some memories. Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Simulator was rough on the eyes but still fun!
There was a later Chuck Yeager combat sim ...

You'd be getting shot up and Chuck would be taunting you with gems like "You're taking a pounding" and some other one about augering yourself in. (crashing)

Or a Jack Keane 3 pre-order-a GOG exclusive deal.
Oh, since we're all hot to trot on flight sims and flight combat sims today, I have to say that if you don't already have a mid or high end flight stick and throttle setup that I highly highly recommend picking one up if you are crazy about any kind of flight sims. I bought a Saitek X52Pro flightstick and throttle plus the Saitek rudder system a few years ago and it makes a massive difference in playability and control over cheap hardware joysticks or flightsticks etc. It's a bit expensive but totally worth it. I also own a NaturalPoint TrackIR 4 Pro head tracker which is absolutely mind boggling awesome in games designed to use it (they have a list on their website and it includes some of the games we're discussing). Words can't describe how friggen amazing it is to turn your head in real life and have your head turn in the game as well. Also for those who are fans of the ArmA series of tactical combat shooters, ArmA 2 and possibly ArmA 1 also support the TrackIR which is friggen amazing. Expensive hardware, but well... mind melting super holy shit awesomesauce and a bucket of chicken.

If something like that ever happens and they do some crazy hilarious promotional stunt along with the developer and make it way over the top, I'm totally buying a few copies instabuy too. :)

foxworks: Glad to see this much love for a flight sim on GOG! Shame there aren't many in their catalog...
Am I going to finally have to "pull the trigger" on B-17 to inspire GoG to grab a few more? Maybe the flight sim bump caused by this thread will help out ;)

Also, there must be some sort of issue with Jane's as those seem like prime targets to add here. Can't we just take their name off the game and call it a day? ;)

for some reason that sounds like something you don't really want to use on the chicken as it might be a bodily fluid lol

While B-17 doesn't offer much in the realm of dog-fighting, it's a great bomber sim!

Sadly, last time I tried to install Longbow Gold was in Windows 7/x64 and it puked a rainbow of fruit flavours. It'd need some GOG love to get working. Worked in XP though. No idea about Longbow 2 as I don't have that one. They were amazing AH64 sims though, and AH64 sims are my favourite of favourite flight sims times 11. :)

I could see them making every single game banner on the front page Jack Keane 3 over and over again the day it's announced. :)

I think that was the one I remember much frustration from flying Sabres against the WAY better Mig 17s ... Out turned, out gunned... "You're taking a pounding"... "No shit, Chuck, how about some USEFUL insight?"

Hahaha, that'd be hilarious, or when someone clicks on a game they want, it does a googlesque redirect and says "are you sure you didn't mean Jack Keane 3?" :)

Yuckie poo poo! :) I suffered through my teens and 20s and half of my 30s using nothing more than a mouse and keyboard and craptastic Radio shack potentiometer based joysticks that the resistance changed as your hand heated up the stick decalibrating it, and friction eventually wore out the pots killing the stick in like a week (or so it seemed). Eventually realized I was no longer "poor" and could afford to seed my hobby with quality shit so I sprung for hardware with hall sensors and wow, worth every penny! :)
