txnca: Oh yeah, they are still around. That is where I had to get Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, unfortunately. They ended up being Steam Keys, which up until then I had managed to stay away from.
avatar
FilthyAssistant: The hell? You avoid Steam but buy things on Uplay?
I had never bought games from them before so I didn't know. They also did not mention anything about DRM. I had looked everywhere for those two games and they are everywhere and Steam is mentioned right up front on all of the sites I had checked before them. Then, AFTER I bought the games, they give me Steam keys???!!! WTF! I was pissed! What can you do? Not much if you want to play those games!

txnca: No kidding! This is what I had BEFORE the Insomnia Promo:

<Long haul list>

HypersomniacLive: What I like most about you is your child-like enthusiasm! ;-)

txnca: [...]

It works for me because I am supporting developers and GOG to keep putting out DRM Free games!

[...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: I hope that you keep in mind that when it comes to the older titles, you're not actually supporting devs. It's a well placed support nonetheless.

¡Viva la DRM-libre Revolución!
For some reason it isn't letting me break up the above and answer directly to your statements, so here are my answer to the above ;-)

Hey now! I'm only 52, still young and prefer to stay that way! One of the best ways to stay young is to not grow up! That doesn't mean not be responsible, which everyone seems to think of as being "grown up". One has nothing to do with the other. Far as I am concerned, being "grown up" is another way of saying OLD! Grown ups don't play games. Grown ups don't watch cartoons or animated movies (cartoon movies!). Grown ups don't listen to LOUD music! Screw that! Crank it UP!!!

and next...

I realize that for the older games that is very true. I have already supported the older game devs by having bought the games originally. Now I am supporting the DRM free and the new Indie game devs who are out there working hard to make great games for everyone to play!

Hey now! That was a genuine complement! ;-)
Every time I read a post of yours about games you got, games you're eyeing to get, etc. I can't help but imagine an excited kid in a toy store running up and down the aisle in an attempt to suck everything in. And that's a good picture!
I find your enthusiasm very enjoyable and refreshing. I'm willing to bet that the sight of you playing the games is equally enjoyable.:-)

And I'm with you - play games, watch cartoons and animations, and don't forget to dance to that loud music you enjoy!

txnca: What's crazy is that I already own a lot of these games already in 5.25", 3.5", CD, and DVD format. It is so much better to own them without the DRM and in downloadable format!

skeletonbow: Now if CD Projekt started up a new service at https://www.gop.com (Good Ole Poutine) which sold both video games and poutine, we'd be in pure heaven and wouldn't need to really move off our chairs at all. :)
It's been too long since I had some poutine... That, and peameal bacon.

It's only been a month, but that's way too long.
I might grab Shadowrun Returns but i just looked on Steam and there's a deluxe edition which apparently has content that is not included with the GOG version - The Dead Man's Switch Campaign and the soundtrack.

I could live without the soundtrack but i'd like to have that campaign. So can anyone tell me if it is exclusive to the Steam version? Or is it included in the GOG version too?

Impaler26: The Dead Man's Switch Campaign
This is the vanilla campaign, nothing exclusive. GOG version has it.

Ummm, it's the main campaign, you silly. :P
anyone else while looking through the looping flash sales start to look at games u wouldn't normally buy, and get tempted to buy buy?

anyone got list of non flash deal games that might be worth a buy at their current sale prices?

I would go with the Earth series (Earth 2140, 2150, 2160). Each one is at $2.99 now.

Thanks for the info, that's good to know!

Nevertheless it's a pity that the soundtrack and the anthology-pdf are not available on GOG. I guess i'll just wait and see if the deluxe edition shows up in the Steam Summer Sale.

Indeed, way way too long. In fact, you just reminded me that I have peameal bacon in the fridge that I bought last week and forgot about and I think I am going to go fry some immediately, both out of intense hunger and strong patriotism.

Absolutely, that's why they drop the prices so low too in the industry, it picks up shitloads of whimsical "holy shit, I can't pass this up" sales of games many people would probably never buy ever, and in many cases they buy at the discount price but never actually play, so it's all positive cashflow city making money out of thin air more or less. I saw statistics somewhere for Steam that said something like 75% or more of all games redeemed on Steam never ever get installed. That is consistent with my Steam catalogue so far, and probably my GOGalogue too. :)

I am a representative of the "HOLY SHIT" mentality when it comes to these sales lol
