The biggest celebration of DRM-Free gaming this season is right now, right here on GOG.com! It's warm and nice outside, the summer draws ever closer, so let's make sure it's full of fantastic games. There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

Gnostic: But you feed yours so many euro that yours need to slim down. This summer sales is perfect exercise for your bank account.
I bet my bank account wishes this was true. ;-)
We require more options for flash sales.

That being said, I cleared half my wish list already so I'm happy eitherway. :3

Bring on moar sales!

Tarhiel: What I personally don´t like though, is fact, that developers branded their product as "Gold Edition," which, in common gamers tongue means "the ultimate edition of the game, which developer considers finished and will not be modified in any way" - and yet they will release a DLC later on.
avatar
Vestin: That's because publishers are more willing to give the devs money to work on games that are bringing in money. If people buy "GOLD EDITIONS" of whatever, it makes sense to sell them some more stuff to go with them.

Additionally - since gamers say "I won't spend my money just yet, I'll wait for a Gold Edition", publishers simply concluded "Let's call the stuff we're selling them 'Gold Edition' so that we can get the money we need RIGHT NOW" ;P.
This is a vicious cycle indeed, games goes I won't buy anything until gold edition, publisher cut content that should be with the original game in the first place and release it as DLC which become bundle into the game as GOLD edition next month.

Gamers goes "Dang I had been rip off by the DLC, I must wait for gold edition in all my future purchase"

Publisher goes "What! sales of the game is so underwhelming, only after it goes gold we see some decent figures, I know lets release the game still in development and patch the games afterwards, since not much sales will be expected before it goes gold. I feel smart for taking advantage of the perks of modern technology via internet."

Gamers goes "HOLY !!!!!!, WHAT THE !!!!!! is this unfinished buggy mess! I will boycott this game and wait for deep discount / gold / platinum / complete when they had fully patched up their games. I will go all over the place warning everyone from buying this !!!!!!!!!!"

Publisher goes "What! So little people buy our gold edition games until there is a discount! lets jack up the price then give a discount to entice purchases. Hmm we have to do something about the negative backlash, I know lets do EARLY ACCESS / Beta"

Gamers goes "WHAT THE!!!!!!!!!! How dare they price gouge me with such astronomical numbers, I will never buy anything unless it is on a sales". "At this price, I just get the game for free through some unconventional means"

Gamer X "What is this Beta thingy! it is not even in Alpha. Dismissed"
Gamer Y "Oh I get to play the game earlier then my friend, I like this"

Publisher goes "Pirates is rampant in our industry leading to many sales loss. We need stronger form of DRM". "Gamers on the PC are such a cheap !!!!!! They think our game are worth next to nothing, lets do console instead".
"Many gamers buy the beta version boosting sales, they do not even wait for a discount! lets charge more for the beta since they like it".

Gamers goes "!@#$%^&*() DRM, I cannot play even single player / always interrupted due to connection hiccup, Signed on this and that account and I cannot remember all, my games gone poof because they take the server down."
"There are many great console titles, I just migrate there, I heard games there are less buggy (Before console can link up to the internet for patches)"

Publisher "PC gaming is dead, lets do console instead" "We should not develop games that is not popular, lets only release FPS / dumb down games so more people can accept / cannibalize old classic that sold so well before"

Gamers "GOG to the rescue" "Indie to the rescue" "Kickstarter to the rescue"

Waiting publisher next move

The sale ends on the last day of June!
Cool, thanks.

Matruchus: Omerta was not yet on sale. You can check it on IAmSinistar's thread like srilumpa stated. But don't worry its still 16 days of summer sale left :)
It's random speculation but I have a theory that Omerta will be the free game this sale. If not Omerta, it seems reasonable to suspect that one of the ad hoc images not yet featured in a flash sale would be some of the freebies hinted at in the original post. It would be poor of GOG to hold a flash sale on an items then make it free a few days later.
Is Tower of Guns any good for those who played it? I'm on the fence when it comes to this game.

On another note, I recommend getting Rainbow Six. Here's hoping that GOG will get Rogue Spear and Raven Shield in the future.
How do freebies work this sale? Can someone explain this to me?
avatar
IAmSinistar: That's what happens when you give it every dollar you have. ;)

HypersomniacLive: I guess it's a good thing that I don't have a single dollar then? ;-P
You should work on your pole dancing technique more. ;)

We don't know yet.
A neighbour making noise outside woke me up after a few hours sleep when I went to bed earlier today. I was a bit miffed but took the opportunity to do a bio break and grab a glass of water. On the way back to bed I detoured to refresh the sale screen and one of the games I was waiting for and missed the first time around was on sale! Dracula 1-3 now completes my collection of the series. No longer miffed at my neighbour. :)

Isn't it cool how sometimes being put out turns into something rather awesome :-)

Indeed! I now sorted the list of GOG flash sale games someone posted and am going through them all to see if there are any other stragglers I missed. If so, hopefully I can get them quickly and not have to monitor the flash sales hehe.
