The biggest celebration of DRM-Free gaming this season is right now, right here on GOG.com! It's warm and nice outside, the summer draws ever closer, so let's make sure it's full of fantastic games. There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

j0ekerr: Okay, last day discussion time.

Suppose you could choose only one bundle from those that are NOT Point and Click games. Which one would you choose? Could you abandon the rest?

I think I might go for the D&D bundle. I haven't played any of the baldur's gate games.
Third person apparently, check some youtube videos.
OK, the only bundle that I haven't got that I'm remotely interested in is the Rebellion Catalog bundle, chiefly because of Evil Genius and the Empire Earth games.

CelestialBunny: Oh and GOG - your on my hitlist until you give me my American Nightmare freebie, I dont stay up until 5am and lose sleep for nothing.....you owe many of us another crack at that game
(Following was from Jennifer who blocked her PM system)

I'm sorry to hear that you stayed up waiting for the game and didn't receive it. Did you get your copy of the game since you posted? I happened to check the store page during the small window that American Nightmare was free, so I got a gift copy you could have if you need it :)

Note to Jennifer - you dont allow PM's so have to post this here, if you still have the code bunnie would love to grab that last freebie ^_^

j0ekerr: You lucky bastard, just one whimsical purchase? I'm torn between blowing up all my leftover money on the bundles I still don't own or spending it on hookers and blow.

Hint: I think blow might be less harmful.
Quite wrong in fact, Sang-froid is more of a tower defense game, with 3rd person view segments. You lay traps to kill attacking werewolves roaming around the canadian forests.

Why is there no Wolverine DLC? Because... Canada!
avatar
Getcomposted: I have heard that it's a tower defense game, but aren't there bits where you have to fight the wolves that get through by hand, so to speak? And aren't those bits FPP? My brain is so bad I can't even *look* at someone else playing FPP games. Two minutes and instant migraine. So, if there are even a few bits of FPP in Sang-Froid, it can't be my type of game, no matter how much I think I would enjoy playing it. :(
Those parts are not really first person but third person perspective. I admit, it could still be an issue, depending on what bothers you. I'd suggest looking up some gameplay videos on YouTube. If you can play it without getting sick it is an awesome game.
Somebody describe me the Spellforce games and why they are awesome or not at all.

Also having played the sam and max new games I am underwhelmed by them. It's not that they're bad, it's just that they're lacking that special something old school adventure games had. Do the runaway games follow the same path or does it manage to recapture the old school feeling a bit better?
hi

so, this is the last 20 hours of sale??

did we see any freebies today??
are we expecting any?

thanks

No idea. There was no mention of Banished or any other freebie in the GOG sale update, so if they are going to do a freebie, it will be a complete surprise. If you want to be absolutely sure of not missing a possible freebie, stay glued to your computer for the next 20 hours. :P

in a few words....
if you are looking for old-school type point n click adventures with humorous approach....
go for broken sword + runaway (this is what I bought, which are also games I beat when they were released)

sam and max (telltale) is just an average attempt (my opinion) lacking in many aspects...as is back to the future....
but, if you are hardcore fan of the series, go for them....

MWink: I agree with most of what you said but I just wanted to note that some hard drives actually do perform surface scans when idle.
avatar
TheJadedOne: Cool. I hadn't heard of spinny-disks doing that before. (I think I've seen the feature built into higher end disk controllers before, but not the drives themselves.)

But I wonder how common it is. (What drive are you using?) If I look at, for example, the WD Black which is a higher end consumer drive (and my newest box which I'm still not actually using yet has some of those in it), I don't see anything about an automatic scan feature. I do see something called "Corruption Protection Technology" but there they only talk about protecting against power failures, not bit rot. I tried putting "'wd black' 'bit rot'" into google and I don't like what I'm seeing. :(

I leave my computer running 24/7, so an automatic scan would be great. Currently when I do backups I always do full backups (rather than incremental) which forces all of my important data to be read, so at least at that point the hard drive will notice if something's not right (and if it were not auto-fixable by the drive the backup process would get an error, alerting me that something's up). But an automatic scan every 24 hours or something would be better than that (as I don't backup that frequently). Anyways, I think it's funny that the process of backing up my data may be significantly decreasing the chance that I will actually need to ever use those backups.

That's the best info I could find on it. Keep in mind this is over a decade old and talking about very out of date drives. It seems like they may have dropped this feature from newer drives, though I'm not sure why. I feel like newer drives could definitely benefit from it, especially those Seagate bad sector collectors. I'm a fan of WD Black drives. The only WD Black I've had an issue with was likely caused by external factors.

I feel I can relax now,

I've bought all the bundles I want, I've bought all the flash sale games I want.

I've even cleared all the mac compatible games on my wish list from the 50% off sales.

I managed to get all but Alan Wake in the freebies, I had to go teach a class for an hour, damn half hour!!!! Ah well. I might grab it while it's 50% off.

Apart from that final decision I'm done with buying!
I hope The Witcher 2 goes back to $3.99. Not sure if there's much of a chance of that coming back on a flash sale.
ah, the monkeys are back!!
That the god of Grog! I last saw dem bugggers when ay be at work on me shippe! Of course myne shippe had non' of them internettings! Buggers! But! Ay, mateys, it's time to grab the monkeys this time!

A hoy! Where's me grog and me mates! Time to sail!!
Welp I guess

- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
- Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
- Prince of Persia '08
- DLC: Shadowrun: Dragonfall
- Trine 1

won't get any lower than 50% :P

Oh well I'll just be on my way then to the checkout and get em already, thanks once again GOG.com for the wonderful summer sale! <3

Did you try Tales of Monkey Island too? It seems funny at start, but the graphic is so so and the reviews are mixed..

P.S: I played and loved MI 1,2,3

I've bought all of telltale's available catalogue on a nostalgia fueled whim. But have yet to play through most of it. Sam & Max I've played til episode 5 of the 1st season and I can confirm that is best described as, so-so.

Also; Outlast is out there and for a moment I thought that gog may yet surprise us all.
