There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

JinseiNGC224: What are some good indie RPG's that could come to GOG sometime, indie or classic?

The current Spiderweb RPG Collection reminds me that there's always an RPG out there that I probably haven't thought of recently or that I've never even heard of.

Impaler26: Nethergate: Resurrection - also from Spiderweb Software. Their only game not available on GOG.

rayden54: Not really. Especially not when you get to watch that price go up just because you won't buy everything,
avatar
Coelocanth: Conversely, you could look at it this way: pretty much the whole catalog is offered at 50% off right now. The individual games in the bundle are offered at an even better discount of 60% or watch the price go down even further if you buy them all. *shrug*

I vehemently disagreed with the GOG staff way back when they first stated that deep discount sales a la Steam's Summer Sales (and now GOG's sales) cheapened games. But I'm beginning to see what they mean. Still not sure I fully agree, but I can see their point a little more clearly.
I understand the sentiment and do agree with GOG in that it can cheapen the games potentially even though I enjoy being able to buy games I otherwise could not. The same thing has been happening to hardware (tech.) also over the past 5+ years.

However, I would not either be able to buy games or simply could not justify buying some (try, many or a ton) games if they did not hit the price point a ton have this sale, and other sales.

So . . . GOG and the dev. and pub. basically get a purchase from me (and I bet numerous others) that they otherwise absolutely, positively would not have received. This means they make at least some money off of the on the fence folks. I feel that this is where the sales of more recent years have really boosted game sales by at least netting some money from folks who otherwise would pass.
Dropping some words here for the freebie Alan Wake American Nigthmare, only of the 4 I could get but greatly surprised and pleased by the move, despite having it on Steam. Such a pleasure to receive gifts from the ones you "love", such as my GOG company.. So.. Thank you!!! :)

D-ROCK: Same goes for me if anyone has a spare gift code, that they would be generously willing to spare. I was asleep when it was free for a limited time.
avatar
jonridan: You should try the "missed freebies" thread. People there gift the freebies games ;)
okay thank you!

rayden54: Not only do they expect you to pay more to buy individual games, they exclude them from the flash sales. No. Buying the games at the lesser discount only validates their crap. It's not acceptable.
You always have the option of paying full price when the sale ends, if you don't like their sale prices.

Buy or don't buy, but don't cry about it. It's not worth it. If GOG's sale prices and tactics are all you have to worry about in life, be grateful for your great life.

Oh, i didn't know that GOG refused Nethergate and Avernum: Escape from the Pit (or already forgot it). That's really a lame decision! :(
avatar
stg83: I managed to wake up just in the nick of time to nick Alan Wake: American Nightmare so I managed to get all four freebies. Once again thanks to all the developers/publishers and GOG for making this possible. :)
Same here. I set an alarm cause I just couldn't stay awake anymore. It seemed like AW wasn't running on the same timer as the other games because there was less than a minute left when I managed to grab it but there were 5-6 minutes left on the other games in the same block. Either way, certainly appreciate the freebies.

Agreed and this was my point when GOG made their statement: I bought quite a number of games I would otherwise have never bought at all because I was only mildly intrigued with them. If they hadn't been on deep discount I wouldn't have touched them. A few turned out to be real gems and now those particular devs are on my radar, and I'm now far more likely to purchase something by them at a higher price point.

This speaks to my point above.

However, where I'm starting to see GOG's point is this: Game X is offered at a price of $1.99 if bought in the bundle, but $2.39 if you buy it individually. That's a 40 cent difference and that's a big issue? That's where I can see the cheapening of games that GOG staff were talking about.

Well, we don't know the reason why they refused. We haven't heard gog's side of the story. Maybe the developers asked for too big a percentage of the selling price?

I already own all the games in the Bundles that would interest me. Ultimate first world problems.
