The biggest celebration of DRM-Free gaming this season is right now, right here on GOG.com! It's warm and nice outside, the summer draws ever closer, so let's make sure it's full of fantastic games. There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

Soccorro: well...i have bought more than i could ever play. i have red baron and strike commander now and i don't even like flight simulators wtf...
been there! Bought the first game of some military RTS I can't even remember the name of now during insomnia. I'm sure its part of the plan of these things. Of course during this sale I bought the second game in that series cos.. well.. I had the first. urgh. At least I didn't cave and buy the Wing commander pack. Or Red Baron. Or Strike Commander.

... yet.

leonhle: I am actually quite disappointed with the 30 minutes move for Alan Wake's American Nightmare. :/

skeletonbow: I wouldn't fret about it. There will be oodles of people who got it and others who got keys to give away. Keep an eye on forum giveaways that are happening now and over the next several weeks and there will probably be a lot of codes being given away. If you miss out on one of them you have good chances to get one of hundrends of other free games. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of freebies floating around on GOG every day so it's hard for me at least to be too concerned of missing out on one out of hundreds of opportunities that come by. :) Just something to think about anyway. Hope you win something in one of the giveaways!
Thank You, that's very kind of you to cheer me up :)

Pangaea666: Gah, I hate these "good offer only if you buy the whole pack" offers. It means that instead of buying the game(s) that I'm interested in, I'm not buying anything at all.
60% off isn't a good offer? I certainly understand it's not as good as 80% off, but 60% is still a pretty decent discount.

I agree with you some of the time, but in these two bundles today the prices are about as low as one title pre-sale; so I had to bite.
Thanks for the free games and the great sale GOG! ;)

Rakuru: If LucasArts doesn't take a cue from the spate of recent space sim games like Star Citizen and announce an Oculus Rift-compatible X-Wing reboot, it'll be a crime.

Leroux: I thought the studio was essentially dead as a developer and Disney only wanted to use it for licensing third party Star Wars games?
Yes LucasArts does not exist anymore. Its all Disney now and they are licenceing it out I do believe.
I managed to wake up just in the nick of time to nick Alan Wake: American Nightmare so I managed to get all four freebies. Once again thanks to all the developers/publishers and GOG for making this possible. :)

j0ekerr: The thing about bundles is that not every game included is either a masterpiece of a fondly remembered blast from the past.

That is the case with the broken sword bundle, I'm on the fence with this one, I certainly want the 1st one. I remember reading the reviews about it in computer and console magazines and bitching about not having a playstation. But the second was less than stellar. While faith in the series seemed to have been restored with the 3rd game, the 4th installment was deemed as disappointing by fans.

So what I'm asking is, should i care about BS 2 and 4? Will I be missing anything at all if I just purchase 1 and 3? Price is not really much of an issue as bloat at this point.
No, no, no, you're getting it all wrong. 1 and 2 were brilliant. 3 was where the series took a nose dive. The first two were point and click the 3rd one became a third person action game to attempt to get the console money. If had AWFUL (caps on purpose) stealth sections and terrible quick time events. I haven't played 4 yet (despite owning it) but it looks like a point and click adventure again albeit with 3d graphics rather than the hand drawn art of 1 and 2.

Seems I missed Alan wake. That's okay, I think I already got it for free from the Insomnia sale.

Edit: Nope, I didn't. Well I wasn't going to play it anyway. xD

Not really. Especially not when you get to watch that price go up just because you won't buy everything,

Conversely, you could look at it this way: pretty much the whole catalog is offered at 50% off right now. The individual games in the bundle are offered at an even better discount of 60% or watch the price go down even further if you buy them all. *shrug*

I vehemently disagreed with the GOG staff way back when they first stated that deep discount sales a la Steam's Summer Sales (and now GOG's sales) cheapened games. But I'm beginning to see what they mean. Still not sure I fully agree, but I can see their point a little more clearly.

Of course, that's very true, it all depends on the perspective, whether the glass is half full or half empty. I think the thing is that GOG's marketing stuff is well aware of that and using it supposedly to their advantage. They can go about it in two ways: either advertise and display a 60% discount with an 80% as a bonus if you select all games in the package - so that you see the price fall when you do that - or advertise a "up to 80%" discount, display those 80% as the default and make you de-select games you don't want, so that you see the price rise when you do that. They chose the latter to encourage customers to buy the full package (or discourage them from just buying single games, depending on your perspective). What you write is still true in this case, but whether the customers also feel it is true depends on their ability to assume an independent perspective and resist the marketing's psychological attempt at making you feel bad about getting "only" 60% off.
Hey all. Did anyone happen to grab a free gift on Alan Wake American Nightmare that needs a good home? I feel asleep just before the 30 minutes took place. Snoozers are losers :(

Interesing, then I think I'll dive headfirst into the bundle.
Hey, should I get Avadon1&2 if I already bought Avernum and Geneforge?
Some say that this saga is inferior to the others..

(and what about Eschalon1-3 ?)
