Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

j0ekerr: In that case, can you shed some light on the 1.06 controversy? Can that bug be circumvented at all?
avatar
Griz800: Put simply, there is a bug in one of the campaign missions which prevents the game triggering part of a quest. This renders that quest impossible to complete, and thus that mission and thus the campaign. As far as I can tell it was broken in the 1.06 patch released late last year and is baked into the GoG version. There isn't a workaround for players who have the game via GoG because, while Kalypos did solve it, they only applied the 1.07 patch to Steam customers. GoG just get "we're going to do a 1.08 for all retailers", which has been the message for the last 6 months.

The actual mission is Georgia Ave, about 7 missions in, though there are also issues with Garden Pier relating to casinos just before that but they can be mostly worked around by constructing your own rather than taking over existing ones.

People haven't been too impressed with the Kalypso guys...and it should be stressed that GoG are basically stuck waiting for Kalypso to sort it out. Nobody seems to know why they couldn't just throw them 1.07 in the meantime...But anyway. It was a fun game up until it broke, so it's a nice freebie offer. If and when the issue is resolved then I think people will get entertainment value out of it.
Wow, didn't have a clue about it, thanks so much for clarifying this. :)

bell02: last year steam gave L4d2 for free,... so far i know, steam gave never a free2play game for free in a sale!
The only problem is, when they give a free game, the server crash imiditley!..and, i guess, they gave so far only FPS games....

would be rly cool to see sacred2 or an X3 game for free.
If you want I can send you a key for X3:Terran Conflict.

TNGpt: Well v1.07 fixed the problem that 1.06 added to the campaign but no one knows what 1.08 will bring or when it will be released. Supposedly, yes, it includes the fixes from 1.07 plus new stuff but again, no one (including GOG) knows when it will come out. Looking at the Kalypso forums it has been worked on for a while (since 1.07 was released on steam) but no idea when it is finally released.
avatar
IronArcturus: Is there a way for the player to manually patch their game if GOG can't get the patch?
Currently, there is no stand-alone version of the v1.07 patch available for download, no. And it also isn't possible to download here an older version of the GOG release in order to circumvent the bug and complete the campaign.
avatar
IronArcturus: That's too bad. So the game is pretty much broken until it gets fixed with v1.08?

I was going to write a somewhat long winded and madly rambling post about what I think about Kalypso at this point, there were even going to be numerous instances of 'bugrit' and 'millenium hand and shrimp' interspersed all over it. But at some point my medication kicked in and decided to resume it in two short and not as incensing points.

1. Kalypso frowns at versions of their game without any DRM being distributed.
2. Steam is a money making machine to which GOG cannot compare, so they get first choice of everything. And like a volcano god, those around it are quick to appease its wrath.

Omerta is also an full price game that is givin awya for free from Gog

It is true that we, GOG users, were treated as an inferior class of buyers not worthy of the same quality of service provided to those that bought the game at other retailers. I have presented my opinions to Kalypso regarding that matter. On the other hand, I am also disappointed with GOG for not doing more in representing/defending us. Barely any feedback and no solution while apparently shrugging elbows when they are clearly being treated as a second class retailer doesn't sound like the correct way to act.
Well, I got the free game by clicking on the box to check on the game page what it was all about and ended up getting it in my library... :/

It's not even my kind of game, broken or not, but, hey!, it was free, right? Not that I care much about getting games just because they're free... I guess I'll give it a go, knowing me and strategy games, I'll probably quit it way before the bug that prevents from finishing the game.

I was going to say no, but then saw Daikatana got two and a half.

Thanks to GoG and Kalypso for this interesting game, I hope it gets fixed before I get around to playing.

It's likely a fallacy to defend Kalypso given Omerta's buggy state... but I think there is some redemption for them in offering Omerta FREE on GOG (but not Steam). With this move Kalypso has done a lot to elevate GOG aiding with publicity and lending support for the DRM-free format with a high profile freebie.
Thanks for the game!
Hey GOG, thanks for another free game! You guys are the best! I've had a lot of fun so far during this sale and I really appreciate getting a little bonus. It is very generous of you. You guys always take such good care of us.

Cheers

Currently I can only find illegal means to get the patch...how ironic is that? I own the game on Steam, just picked it up on GOG for free and if I want to play the working version, Kalypso want me to visit nefarious websites...
Yay, a freebie. Even if it isn't a game I was actually after thank you anyway GOG!

j0ekerr: It is more aggravating knowing that the problem has been solved in the steam version and yet, Kalypso is holding out on gog. It shows blatant favoritism on their part. It becomes downright infuriating however when you read that earlier versions were NOT broken in this way and could be completed, yet these versions are, for some reason that escapes me, not available for download.
Kalypso apparently wanted to ensure that we had reason to move to Steam, who knows why.
What they achieved instead was me having an extra reason to believe I won't be buying any of their games any time soon.
