The biggest celebration of DRM-Free gaming this season is right now, right here on GOG.com! It's warm and nice outside, the summer draws ever closer, so let's make sure it's full of fantastic games. There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

JudasIscariot: It should run just fine in Windows 7 64-bits :) As for a windowed mode, I am not sure...

skeletonbow: I've got a few hours time to kill and volunteer to install and test the game for GOG.com just as a good samaratan (I'm like that!), just add the game to my account and I'll beta-test all the various graphics settings and resolution up to 2560x1600, windowed/non-windowed, various AA modes, etc. :oP Hey, it's the least I can do for all the good things GOG does for us gamers! <grin>

*runs*
Haha nice try!
I can confirm that it runs on Windows 7 64-bit and it can also be run in windowed mode.

phaolo: Hey, which do you think it's better: Valdis Story or Dust?
I loved Dust an Elysian Tail. I found Valdis story to be too hard for me ( these old fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be)

Ah, good good! :) I'm going to go ahead and test Original War tonight now that the web glitch is fixed on the game bookshelf. Need to consume some media from my download drive first to make up space though, this sale swallowed more space than I had left myself with. I have a feeling though that as fast as I can free up space GOG is going to help me use it up. I'm going to go ahead and coin the term...

"GOGwin's Law" for that. :)

IronArcturus: [Aarklash Legacy -] What is the gameplay like? Are there a lot of campaigns?
I've enjoyed Aarklash Legacy and easily recommend it at ~$6 provided you appreciate a challenging strategic combat.

Aarklash Legacy has team based tactical gameplay. It runs like an action RPG, but the key is to frequently press the space button to pause and issue commands to each of your 4 party members. You can queue commands/attacks also to issue a string of orders in succession. There are a good assortment of buffs/debuffs that it keeps things interesting (so spamming direct damage attacks aren't always the best approach). Difficulty is wonderfully challenging with battles (especially boss fights) that feel epic and when you lose (because you will lose) it's fun to replay conflicts trying different tactics. Difficulty can be adjusted mid-game. When your party members fall you can use others to try to revive them. Some of the enemies seem like there's a "trick" to defeating (i.e. one draws your buffs for a power attack, so avoid stat boosting). There's a lot of loot to seek that adds to customizing your characters and even a limited crafting system (if you discard items they bank points to eventually create a new powerful item once enough is trashed). One drawback is that each character can keep about 4 abilities/attacks/buffs/debuffs in play at a time and the range of unlockable abilities feels a bit limited but there are enough characters to toy around with.

Aarklash Legacy plays in some ways like the Dungeons/Dragons stuff - Baldur's Gate, Icewind, etc but with more emphasis on combat than exploration/questing. There are 5 acts/areas so, I think, sufficient content, especially considering the challenge of the battles. There is a plot, which initially surrounds mysterious combat and your party being targeted for unknown reasons so... it just compells combat.

If you do pick up Aarklash Legacy report back with how you find it, I'd be curious.

I've not played Valdis Story, but I really enjoyed Dust. It's the most fun I've had on a platformer in quite awhile.

Seconding for Dust too. It was a really great platformer/RPG game! I hope they make a sequel!
I have a feeling that Risen 2 will be on flash sale on steam. However looking at the DLC prices, I think I'm better off buying the games here again, than spending about the same amount for the DLCs. Any opinions?
Or should I jut give up on the DLCs and that's it?

I decided to hold off on Risen series for now as I have plenty of RPGs to go through pretty much and by the time I free up some backlog the Risen series will probably be haveable with all DLC etc. for $5 or less. I'm guessing sometime within 12 months or less, probably during one of the fall/winter/spring sales. Ditto with a few other awesome looking RPGs here and elsewhere too. Plus TW3 is going to steal the thunder in Feb... :)
Got MoO 1+2, on the watch for PS: T ever since !

I would buy it here since this bundle includes all the DLC for Risen 2. Steam might only put the core game on sale and make you pay for the DLC.
Will BANISHED and SIMCITY 4 DELUXE EDITION be included in these summer sale ?

Banished is included, it's currently 50% off. SimCity 4 - I don't think so.

I never played Valdis Story but if you're picking which game to get/play through, I strongly recommend Dust. The story, the gameplay, the mechanics, the metroidvania-like exploration, and the general atmosphere make it easily one of my favorite releases of 2013.

Yea, that's my problem, I already have the base game from previous bundles... I also have the first game there....
With the current backlog I also think that I hold off my purchase until the games get cheaper...
