The biggest celebration of DRM-Free gaming this season is right now, right here on GOG.com! It's warm and nice outside, the summer draws ever closer, so let's make sure it's full of fantastic games. There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

The_Blog: WOW not bad! Havn't even finished one game from the last Insomnia Sale xD
avatar
KittyKay: Wait a minute. People actually finish games?!? I always end up jumping around from game to game cause I want to play everything and I end up finishing nothing. :o(
SO far purchased about 80-90 games in this sale.

I have completed 5 of them so far. Plus I've completed another two on the Xbox1 In 5 weeks I am on holiday for 6 weeks so I think I should get through about half of them by the end of Summer.

I have a problem!
avatar
undeadcow: I've been more methodical with my gaming sticking with a game or two at a time until they're finished. I play fewer of them that way but find they're more enjoyable to savor the challenges and see more late game payoff.
I will try to do that from now on but I have like 300+ games in my backlog on gog and steam. I have NOT ENOUGH TIME D:
The university takes so much time away...
I just programmed like 10 hours straight while following the sale >.<

aristotle61: What is going on with the GOG payment system?

It will not allow me to purchase a game. No matter how I try to pay, it tells me there are technical issues and to try again. It just repeats this every time I try to pay. This is really annoying because I have missed the game I am trying to buy three times and now that I finally managed to catch it when it came up I can't buy it!

UPDATE:

I finally completed the purchase so I guess it's fixed.
Problems with payments can be due to the GOG website itself experiencing extremely high loads such as they do during major sales promotions and huge events that draw immense amounts of traffic like today, or from smaller events/happenings that also have temporary high volume. Or, the problems can be with the payment processor itself - the website of the bank/creditcard/paypal/whatever that someone is using, and even that can be local to the particular part of the world they're in and any 3rd party outages or slowdowns in payment processing are probably outside of GOG's control.

When this happens though there are a few options, one being what you already did which is to try again, and the other is to contact GOG support via the link at the bottom and tell them the situation. They may take up to 48 business hours (not wall clock hours) to respond but they are very helpful and accommodating in resolving problems like this so no matter what happens if you have technical problems with the website, payments, etc. always talk to GOG support if you can't sort it out yourself or if it doesn't work after several attempts or waiting for a few minutes/hour/etc. and trying again. If you miss out on something due to a countdown expiring or some other temporary offer due to this, just politely tell GOG support about the problem and what you were trying to do and they are highly likely to fix everything up for you and possibly even give you some freebies or something for the trouble (as I've had happen a few times).

Hope this helps.

The_Blog: 40 games so far ^^
Wow, nice haul/price. I have got 35 games so far but not sure the total price as it was spread out over many transactions so far. Will have to wait for the credit card or add 'em up myself. :) Doesn't count exchange fees though either, but still a super deal either way. :)

Ebany: Wonderful people from GoG, the system has stopped showing which games we own again. Maybe you need a small indicator on the page, a Globe which shows:
avatar
madth3: It's on purpose. Getting that information for every user requires extra work on their servers. It's not the first time they have disabled these indicators. It will probably be back tomorrow.
I'm aware, just suggesting they have an indicator to let us know the retrieval system is off-line. I only really buy for my main account when it's not working, and rarely.

If it's working I go through with all my accounts and buy like a ........ is it politically incorrect these days to use the fat kid and candy store analogy?

Anyway. If there were traffic lights in the corner of the main page which let me know whether the data base retrieval system was off, I could just try back in a hour or so.

The removal is not dynamic neither it was a reaction to high load. They turned it off all day preemptively.
Last Insomnia sale I think it was off during all the sale.

justanoldgamer: I just purchased the Spellforce bundle (I was only missing one game) and the Settlers bundle. I have a question about the two Settlers 2 games. Should I skip the original and go directly to the 10th Aniversary edition? Are they exactly the same except for the graphics or do they have different units, campaign and maps?
Not sure about that, but I'm going to start with the oldest game myself and play it until I finish it or get sick of it, then move up through the series based on release date, which is what I usually do with games personally just to experience them all. Nice to know the info though too. :)

avatar
justanoldgamer: Now I have to decide if I'll buy the last Spellforce 2 in the flash sale when I see it. It's probably going to be on sale a few times before I get through the preceding games. It probably will even get lower in price. Seeing the situation like this I think I'll pass. Beside it violate my limit of $6 per game that I set myself for this sale.
A number of game series had the more recent title(s) missing from the bundles due to huge price gaps from old to new titles. I think they do that to make the bundles easier to buy perhaps. For the titles missing from the bundles that I don't already own on GOG or elsewhere, I'll hold off from buying them anywhere until I actually complete or tire myself of the existing games as by the time I do that the newer games are very likely to experience price drops and then be much cheaper in 75-90% price drops of future seasonal sales and other promos. It'd kind of suck to buy a newer sequel for say $14 and spend months/years before going through the older titles in a series (if one plays games in order like that of course) and get around to finally playing the $14 title while it is now available for $3. :)

Ebany: Wonderful people from GoG, the system has stopped showing which games we own again. Maybe you need a small indicator on the page, a Globe which shows:

Red = Account info retrieval turned OFF (due to server stress or whatever)
Green = Account info retrieval turned ON

May seem an insignificant request but many people have trouble telling which games they have without spends an hour going through every deal. If I knew the system was under stain I could go away for 1/2 an hour, otherwise I think it's broken and come back in the next day or two.
Best to suggest features to GOG via the wishlist, they might not see random posts in the forums or keep track of them though. I suspect they'd get more people asking what those coloured globes or the text actually means though or confusing some people by the messages. A better solution is to rewrite how the account ownership details are loaded and cached in memory and optimizing that so that it can happen at a speed that does not buck the servers under load and having the feature available at all times. Then they don't need to disable the convenient notices, nor confuse users with warning indicators, nor double or triple the amount of servers up and running at a time. ;) My feature request to them would be more along the lines of "Please optimize game ownership retrieval algorithms so the information is always available when servers are under loads during sales instead of disabling the very useful feature." Much better. :)

When that is happening, for bundles it still shows you what games you own when you add it to your cart, but for flash sales I just open up my actual game shelf in another window sorted alphabetically and scroll through it to seek out each game of potential interest if I'm unsure if I already own it. I need to do that anyway with Steam and some other sites so I don't rebuy games I own elsewhere on GOG too (unless I intentionally want to do so). :)

Sometimes I think that's a bit like OCD because its what I generally do. :)

Only if you don't actually enjoy the game(s) and are forcing yourself to do it or feeling that you have to do it even if you don't want to. But if you look forward to it and enjoy playing the actual games then it's just being an avid enthusiast IMHO. :)

I almost always play the first title in a series/franchise and then the rest in order, even if their stories are completely unrelated (ie: Far Cry franchise). For story based games that the storyline continues from game to game in some way, I do it to keep the continuity of the story. For games that it doesn't really matter what order they're played in or the story order isn't too important to game play or whatever then I might do it to experience the oldest game engine first and appreciate the progression of improvements in resolution, colour depth, artwork, effects and other technologies and improvements over time that much more.

I bought the Tomb Raider and XCOM complete collections last Nov. Since then I went completely through Tomb Raider 1, although I installed all of them and spent a half hour or more in each one just to trial run them and have some fun too. After I finish the expansion for it I'll move on to 2, 3, 4 etc.. although I did own the newest game for a year and made it about half way through that. I'll probably restart it from the beginning when I get through the whole series up to the new one though. For the X-COM collection I installed the first two games and have put 70 hours into the original game XCOM UFO Defense so far. Eventually when I finish that I'll climb through them all. I did give the newest game Enemy Unknown a trial run for an hour or two though just to check it out and look forward to playing it when I complete the others. By the time that happens the expansion for it will be super cheap too and I can grab that also. :)

If I play a game that is older and it just isn't fun or outright sucks to me though I will probably skip it and move to the next one etc. :)
Quick question : will expansion/dlc be a part of the big sale (such as Dragonfall for Shadowrun Returns)? Wondering if I should wait or just buy now.
How long does it typically take for the games to be added to your account?
My payment was sent, but the games aren't available for download yet.

Should be there after you pay. You can contact support if they don't show up

There are no indications anymore games will be added to the flash sales rotation unfortunately.... the expansion is 9.99 and a recentish release....

Pretty much straight away, although during sales periods sometimes there can be a minor delay (look for account refresh in the FAQ sections (dont have link off top of my head atm...) -- or as happened to be last sale, contact support and they will need to fix it :/

Weird, I do that exact same thing. I even use the same rationale for playing in order games that have unrelated stories -- I like to experience the technological advancement of the game engine and how the game design changes and is refined as the series progresses. Sometimes it means I'm way behind the curve of everyone else... I was recently playing Tropico 1 and Beyond Castle Wolfenstein at same time Tropico 5 and Wolfenstein: The New Order were released and everyone was talking about them (I'm on Wolfenstein 3D now.). I do have fun trudging through my way, though!

Heh, I need to find a new IP (Intellectual Property, not address) so I can take a break to play a graphically stunning game without feeling guilty. :)

is this the last day for any of these bundles?
