The biggest celebration of DRM-Free gaming this season is right now, right here on GOG.com! It's warm and nice outside, the summer draws ever closer, so let's make sure it's full of fantastic games. There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our 2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!
This sale is not doing wonders for my bank balance, and this forum is causing me to fill up my Wishlist with games from your recommendations amidst the chatter.
Every time I think I've got all the games I could want, you pull me back in... ;)

Right now, I'm waiting for King's Bounty and Wizardry 6+7, but Sacrifice and Arx Fatalis are now on my wishlist. ;)

phaolo: How come a game based on a movie is so high rated.. impossible! :O
(Chronicles of Riddick)
Watch the trailers for the game, it looks awesome. Also watch the trailers for Escape From Butcher Bay which is included with it for free and also looks awesome. The trailers are what sold me on Dark Athena and I didn't even know about the other game until I installed it and found 2 games. :) Both games are IMHO pretty awesome with one caveat. On my display at least (2560x1600 16:10 @ 30") both games have a slightly strange field of view that is a little off when you turn around in the game and looks visually a little weird. There are settings to tweak the aspect ratio/FOV in the menus but I wasn't able to find a setting that perfectly matches my display 100% correct. I did get it to where it works well enough to get used to after 10 minutes or so but it's still a bit strange to me. Doesn't look like everyone out there gets this though or perhaps doesn't notice it. Probably just a configuration setting I need to tweak or whatever though and doesn't really get in the way of the game other than a minor weirdness for a bit. Kind of like watching a 3D movie at the theater and having that 5-10 minute adjustment period for your eyes to get used to the 3D glasses sort of. :)

I dig the Riddick games for sure though and definitely recommend them.

The_Blog: It is better than the movie!
Only one note about the gog port.
Sadly it does not contain the developer commentary and it also does not contain quicksaving as far as I know. But it is basicly the only version that has no DRM. Because the original game came with a stupid annoying DRM.
Well, for me Pitch Black was way better than CoR.
Anyway, I'll wishlist it waiting for a fix, thanks.

(Chronicles of Riddick)
The Chronicles of Riddick's (film) Metascore: 38 (Generally unfavorable reviews)

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay Metascore: 90 (Universal acclaim)

I still don't get it. Picked it up during this sale and looking forward to trying it though. :)

DrRoxo: Hey, is there a way to quickly check how many games one has? I've been here for so long and I still don't know that >_>

And congrats on the magic number!
Yeah, install "Barefoot Essentials 2.0" browser addon. It is a script for Greasemonkey for Firefox and other browsers, just search the forums for the link. Be sure to get version 2.0 though.
The thing is enough people actually play the games they buy that they can give you an review, which informs you and causes you to give games you wouldn't normally consider a second or third glance.
And at these low prices, we all know where that ends up!

Pica-Ludica: Ok, finally caved in and bought Master of Magic. I want to see what all the fuss is about. :)

And with the Magrunner freebie, I am at ....

*drum roll*

... 200 games in my GOG library! I am both very happy and very sad right now. xD

Am still eyeing those Spiderweb and Two Worlds bundles, but am trying to refrain from buying more stuff so I can afford Original Sin on release. :)

Or "Inspect Element" on your Shelf, copy/paste html into an editor that can count number of matches, search for shelf_drag_handle, and divide by 2.
Could probably do a JS snippet that would run in most browsers to do so and Alert() back the result too.

In addition to everyone else's useful responses, I just keep a game un-updated. At the top of your shelf (viewing in list view, at least) there will be: ALL (#) / NEW & UPDATED (#).

This goes away if there are zero new & updated, but I just keep an "updated" tag on one of my games by not clicking it on my shelf and the collection total is always at the top of my list.

Greasemonkey and Barefoot essentials take 30 seconds to install, and make that same game counter that shows up when you have an update show up all the time instead of just when you have an update. :)
I was planning on holding out of buying anything and work on my backlog but at these prices how can I resist?

13 games for 17 bucks, now that's what I'm talkin about

if GOG wants more of my money, it better be doing more sales like these
Thanks everyone for the answers! It's a bit weird this sort of thing isn't already built into the GOG library... Oh well, I'll live :)

I wonder if it's a marketing decision. As in if people know they have a lot of games then they won't buy more. If so they did not take into account the facts that lots of gamers are collectors and even hoarders. I'm 8 games from 500 and it is not slowing me down, quite the contrary I just found one more reason to get the settlers bundle.
Just one Question:
What are Greasefoot and Baremonkey?

Maxvorstadt: Jist one Question:
What are Greasefoot and Baremonkey?
Greasemonkey is a Firefox web browser addon that can load scripts that customize/modify websites. You can either create your own customizations to a website with it using javascript and CSS etc.. or you can simply install scripts that other people have written to customize a given website or sites. It's a simple way to customize a site to have features/functionality not provided by the site, or to rearrange a web page or remote elements you don't want to see, etc. Very useful. Another similar addon for Firefox is called Stylish which has some overlapping functionality. There are similar addons available for Google Chrome and other web browsers also.

Barefoot Essentials is a custom script for the GOG.com website which can be loaded into Greasemonkey and it adds various very cool useful features to the GOG website and forums, a custom comment editor, game count totals, synchronization of your game list and wishlist to the gogwiki.com (for those who have created accounts there) and other goodies. New features are being added regularly. Very useful to anyone using the forums often or the website regularly.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasefire/ (another addon that enhances Greasemonkey, worth it)
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/barefoot_essentials_2_gogcom_enhancement/

All 3 are highly recommended. For those who do not use Firefox, similar addons are available for other browsers as I mentioned above but you'll have to search Google to find them or wait and see if someone else has links/info about them.

Hope this helps!
Just went through my wishlist perusing to see what is left and noticed https://secure.gog.com/game/robin_hood still hanging around... Game hasn't been on sale for over a year now it seems. Too bad it isn't part of the current promo as it'd be a nice fit. Hopefully they take notice and put it up in the next big promo or even a regular sale before then. Has anyone tried this game out? Curious if it is actually any good. Looks appealing though.
