There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

Maxvorstadt: Hmm, I just found out that Magrunner is not a game that GOG does sell! Astounding, it means that this game is only to get free on this sale.
But they do sell it, they've just taken down its page card to prevent abusing the freebie.

JudasIscariot: I can only speak for the first game, The Guild, but if you want a fun life sim where you can be as dastardly as you wish (play as the Thief, seriously!), then you can't go wrong with The Guild :)

edit: if you want more specifics, let me know :)

JinseiNGC224: What can you say about Stick it to the Man?

Is it overly dark in humor?

What game could you compare it to if you could?
It's not too dark humor-wise, actually :) It tends to skirt the surreal edge of humor but it's more coherent plot-wise than the sometimes obtuse (at least for me...) yet still fun Jazzpunk :)

Truth be told, I'd compare it to something like a Lee Petty/DoubleFine game, such as Stacking, but with a sharper tone as there are moments when the main character and the supporting cast tend to poke fun at the drudgery of everyday life :)

I've never played any Leisure Suit Larry game, ever. I now have the opportunity to score all the classics GOG has, and the newer one from last year.

Should I get them, or should I not?

I've been sitting on the idea for a while. Last year I felt I would never buy them, but now I'm on the fence. I guess I felt that they were too dirty for me to play, but then I play some of the most intense games out there. While I'm not one for dark humor so much, I get a serious kick out of dirty humor, and digital nudity doesn't bother me.

Are these games really not all that deep and really just focus on getting girls in the sack? Could you call them the western equivalent to some Japanese anime adult visual novels (which I've played a couple of)?

My wife tends to get a serious kick out of dirty humor too and I already know she wouldn't be offended by these games. That's a plus :D

Shambhala: Which part doesn't work? The "adding to the basket" part or the "checkout"?
avatar
Mau1wurf1977: On the front page there is only a "buy-now" button which takes me to the payment section.

When I click on the image instead of the "buy-now" button it takes me to the page where I can gift and. There is a check-out now button on the right.

The green basket doesn't show and I'm straight at the payment section :(
On the front page there is only a "buy-now", ok that's normal.
Once you press the image you see the content of the bundle, with the games you already own which are greyed out.
You have to press the single title of the game you want to purchase, and that will bring you to that game's page.
Once there you have to add it to the cart, and then you will be able to checkout.
BUT, in order to have the discount applied, you have to have all the games of a specific bundle in your cart: that means you will manually have to add them all in the aforementioned way.

Truth be told, I'd compare it to something like a Tim Schafer game, such as Stacking, but with a sharper tone as there are moments when the main character and the supporting cast tend to poke fun at the drudgery of everyday life :)
That doesn't sound as dark as I thought it to be. I was thinking there were moments that morals went out the window and made you let someone die. I'm also an animal lover and tend to get hurt when seeing animals die in games more than they have to. That's not saying any of that is in Stick it to the Man, but let's just say I have a hard time playing some games like Lucius or Overlord, to say the least. I'm just not an evil guy ;D. Something in the trailer sparked the idea in my head that it was actually darker than the trailer elaborated on.

I do though like the music and textures. The voices are pretty good as well. I might stick it to my collection ;)

Thanks for the advice!

I know, I was trying to explain it to him, not the other way around :)

Oh, sorry. It seemed like a convoluted method to get the discount when you already have some of the games.
OMG GOG Stop it this is too wonderful, my wallet can't take anymore!
My cheek hurt also, to much joy and smiling.

It is, but that's the way GOG works: he asked how to get more than one bundle with a single purchase, and that's the only way I'm aware of.
avatar
Elinnea: Ok, so of the Spiderweb RPG Collection, I already own three of them and the fourth is on my wishlist. This means I get to have the full 85% discount on Avernum, which brings it down to $1.79.

Guess how much is currently in my Paypal account? $1.86.

Could it be more perfect? :D

groundhog42: Sssshhhhhh!!!! GOG will hear you. They'll be wanting, no they'll be DEMANDING, that last $0.06.

I just hope GOG never move into selling alcohol or drugs - the effects could be devastating.
Their scheme totally worked on me though. I saw the announcement for a free game, so I came back to the site to look, and while I was here I saw all those bundles and I clicked on the ones that looked interesting - and I ended up spending my last dollar (sort-of literally) on a game I hadn't intended to buy today.

MARKETING! It works, I tell you.
A freebie I don't have?! Madness!

Sorry if this is a dumb question (or has been answered before), but what do you mean by prevention of abusing the freebie? I just tried to find out more about the game (reviews etc), and it is not available at the moment.
I'm considering getting the D&D bundle because I got Neverwinter Nights when I pre-ordered W3 and it would be nice to round out the collection, but I've never played a D&D game before. If I get the bundle then I will likely have to call it a day on the sale because my wallet is about to hogtie me and shove me in a closet, so that being the case is it worth getting the bundle or should I pass and wait to get other games?
How is that Unepic game? I read that the screen can be small during gameplay. Did they ever add a scaling option?
