Oh. I guess that could have been the reference :(

I was hoping for super special secret sales that would only last 40 minutes.

IAmSinistar: Same here. I guess the suspicions that GOG is holding back in order to make the Xmas sale look good are correct.
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Really have to wonder why GOG thought that a sale of this format is such a good idea so close to their Winter Sale (should start in about three weeks?).
Crossing all digits that they have an ace or two up their sleeve, otherwise its going to be a very boring three weeks of Xmas sale around here.
I think (and I hope) some LucasArts games will appear in Xmas sale. This fact alone would assure them 1 or 2 weeks of good sales.

That would kick massive ass.
I'd also really love to see one or two more Disney/LA titles released before the next sale. *Crossing fingers for Tron 2.0*
Good day, everyone.

Day 11, and it looks like GOG whipped out the fine print scenario.

"250 deals!" Not "250 unique deals!" And certainly not "250 deals that are the exact same things you got tired of looking at a week ago!"

Sneaky buggers....

I'm not sure I can see Disney putting their games on sale. While Christmas would be a nice time to launch some more titles, I really can't see a company like Disney selling their games discounted, especially with them only just coming to GOG.

What, did no one tell you? While you were asleep GOG held a short insomnia sale with lots of new games, even some previously never discounted. In fact, you just missed it, if only you had been a bit quicker. ;-)

-laughs-
Already read the threadspace I missed while asleep. If that had happened, Niggles and Hyper wouldn't be disappointed about the same crap getting regurgitated AGAIN and Sinistar wouldn't be extremely disappointed that their game never showed back up.

They are just trying to spare your feelings. We decided not to tell anyone who missed it, just in case it upset them ;-).

It is a bit sneaky though, the wording they used about the 250 deals.

Well, we might not see them discounted, but I'm really hoping to see a few new ones that GOG may be hiding up their sleeve 'eek' out for those with a craving.

And a good day to you.

I'm resigned to it now. They've put a fairly good bunch of games on sale and I've managed to get some new titles I'm pleased with (with the very generous help of some exceedingly kind fellow GOGers).

I think that, rather than the sale having any particular failings, my expectations and eagerness were perhaps a little too charged up. All in all its been a pretty rewarding (if agonizingly slow) affair so far, and now I'm just looking forward to the bundles to see if I can add any last minute items I might of opted out of earlier.

I wouldn't have lasted this long without the forum, that's for sure ;-)

Yes, I'm not liking that very much. At least with standard fine print, it's there on the page somewhere. But since GOG keeps virtually everything to themselves until the very last second, such an accommodation wouldn't be done by them, which then leads to assumption, which then leads to pissed off, disappointed people.

Christmas would be a good time to launch the next batch, but who knows, GOG sure does like keeping its customers on their toes.

Agreed. The forum's been pretty crucial for this "please beat me about the neck and shoulders to make the pain go away and oh while you're at it can you tell the people who made the timer that it's GODSFRIGGINGAWFUL" sale.

I agree, this is bad. We need more information before and during sales to make them easier to plan and digest.
Something that IS good, though? This. ;)
Continued thank you to Wurzelkraft for passing this one along. =)

(Also, to be fair, Barefoot Essentials is pretty good as well. Had no idea how to post a cleaned-up link before.)

Communication in general would be good. Not expecting to be told everything before it happens, but I'd like to see a middle ground between "GOG spills its guts to me" and "nothing at all whatsoever".
