JaqFrost: What's the deal with Sword of the Stars: The Pit and its various DLC? How many are actually included in the Gold Edition?
Base, mindgames and gold edition content, nothing else.
avatar
j0ekerr: I'm imagining a laid back italian and an overachieving korean in the same classroom.

Then the universe implodes.

Seriously though. Have you ever had a similar mix?
avatar
JaqFrost: Yes, I have actually. =P The Kortalian combo is quite good because neither will be too shy to talk to the other. Unless the Italian is an extremely flirty guy and the Korean a sheltered girl who giggles behind her hand... then I wouldn't put them together for pairwork, but that's less culture dependent and more personality based.
Ah yes, Italians have a reputation for being horndogs.

Italians being shy is not in their nature, but I'm actually surprised to read that about a korean. I suppose I'm barking up the wrong stereotype tree. So what happens if you substitute the korean with a japanese?

Also the "giggles behind her hand" bit feels... ominous. Is that one of the tell-tale signs things to watch out for in two-faced yanderes?

So I take it the worst pairings are the ones that are most similar to each other, like Irish/English?

HypersomniacLive: How's everyone doing this sunny morning?
Good Morning! Niiiiiice! It's a great opportunity for a walk in the mountain, with such a nice weather here.. and time to leave the PC alone to download all the goodies I bought from the Fall Sale... :D
I have an announcement to make.

All praises to jackster79 who graced me with his generosity.
I didn't know that I was worthy of such an honor.

I hereby make a vow:
Christmas is coming.
So this next month I will not buy any other game for myself but I will buy on behalf of others to try to reciprocate his generosity. So keep those wishlists updated.

ps. The above aren't just words. I really mean it. I just need to receive my next paycheck. :-)

HypersomniacLive: None of these present a problem if you put things into perspective - we only want to do something nice for her, so assisting us will be an act of love of yours towards dd.:-)
Nice try, but you will find that Sage is a strong woman, she won't break that easily. My list is safe with her. Plus it was an old list, so it might not be accurate anymore :-).

infinityeight: The educational differences between cultures is a fascinating thing. I've worked in a very nationality -diverse Intensive English Program, so I've seen it all, from super motivated to only show up to class to keep their funding and their visas. The differences between what different cultures teach/ emphasize in learning/ ask for behaviorwise in the classroom is fascinating (and very challenging in courses where those different cultures all come together).
avatar
JaqFrost: Ah, the multilingual classroom! It's ideal from an immersion standpoint, but it's also a microcosm of culture clash. I find that you have to establish very clear rules of engagement when the discussion turns to potentially sensitive topics and sometimes, you're not even aware of what the powder keg of the day might be. =P
I can often get by without these ground rules in very mixed classrooms. Many of my students come from very conservative cultures by U.S. standards. I think a lot of them decide early on that other countries' politics are crazy and their cultures licentious, so many shocking things are going to happen while they're abroad and they might as well not react to simple opinions when people in the airport are strutting around in booty shorts. In classrooms with less variety, however, I've known countrymates on opposite ends of the political spectrum to get into it.

AdamR: 18 is actually comparatively good for me. Most days I am about a 5 or 6.
avatar
j0ekerr: A mere 5? Ku ku ku, you piece of trash.

You should boost your power levels with SUGAR!

Overachieving students generally just ignore the people whom they view as underachievers, though they may get vaguely annoyed if they have to work on a project with an alleged underachiever.

The real challenge is teaching--er, trying to teach--while the World Cup is on.

stg83: Pardon me, I thought you didn't know about the technology doodads. It almost worked dagnabbit! so close. :)
What can I say, it was the strong Indian accent and the fact that you give yourself an English name on the phone that made me suspicious. There is no way your name is really Charles ;-).
Im confused. i thought this flash deal round was the last one?. is it my imagination or has Meridian New World come around a 2nd time?

Don't be so serious, takes all the fun out of gifting, ninja-gifting, stealth-gifting and gifting wars. ;-D

Side note: here's a recent post of jackster79 *wink wink*

EDIT: changed link for jackster79, like the new one better. ;-)

You surely can't blame me for trying, and who knows, perhaps someone else might step up and work with us. ;-)
