Stilton: So, Mr Crow, now you've got your lot, what'll you be tempted by? Anything that might tickle your feathered fancy? There are some fairly good looking indies sliding slowly by (counter to our few days ago discussion about how indies are really not offering a great deal of originality to the scene, per se). Any of them even slightly tempting?

CarrionCrow: Well, such items as Hotline Miami, FTL, Jade Empire, Deus Ex, Journeyman Project, the Oddworld series (again, you have my thanks for the first item in that series =) ), Pathologic and Mark of the Ninja have already struck my interest enough for me to have purchased them.

Also, I see what you're doing there....;)

Honestly, I'm already shifting gears a bit towards Winter. Need to update the wishlist, comb over the catalog for the umpteenth time, all that good stuff.

(And, you know, actually play some of the games when I'm not compulsing over buying more of them.)
Have you played any oddworld titles? They tempted me a bit when the appeared earlier. I didn't bite then, and I'm on the fence about buying them if they show up in the flashes again.

Stilton: If any Witcher EE owners (PC version) are wondering about the reminder for a non-existent update hanging around on their Account tab, its there because a Mac update is available and the PCers among us can't, for some reason, be excluded from the announcement. I just had a very pleasant exchange with one of GOG's GOGlodites who said he hoped it wasn't too much of an annoyance. If this has been stated before, please just pretend I'm a senile relative, smile sweetly and pat me on the head.
Thanks! I thought it was Geralt reminding me that I have yet to finish his game.

I played them briefly when they were on the Playstation 1, but never had a chance to complete the series. After having heard about them for years, wanted to clear them when I had the opportunity.

That's really helpful, thank you! I hadn't heard why I couldn't get the notification to go away! lol~ :D

donsanderson: Very nice. ;)
My favorite word in the English language is 'conviviality' because it rolls off the tongue so nicely.
It is also the atmosphere I prefer to spend my life in, these forums (most of them) provide that.
Thanks for that and to The Bard for putting it so nicely into words. ;)
Thank you, too - you were a part of it ;-)

I started the first Oddworld, and really liked it a lot! I think I got distracted by RL, then forgot to go back to it :p 'course it could be that it's one of the titles that I'm waiting to get a controller to play, too. ;D

EDIT: I also started The Swapper and the first Legacy of Kain games, and HIGHLY recommend them both if you don't already have them. I found them both fascinating!

Tekkaman-James: Looks like Kingdom Rush is going to be showing up for the first time since Day 2. Maybe there's some life in this old girl, yet? Too bad I don't have any interest in it. :/

IAmSinistar: I'm not a Tower Defense fan, but this one surprised me by being actually fun. It has a good deal of variety to it, certainly value-for-money at this price.
You seem to have pretty good taste (as to a few others) :D -- im curious are there game types or genre's you wont touch?.

IAmSinistar: Incidentally, anyone who doesn't have FTL, get it. Seriously.
Or get it with a sense of risque fun, either way you'll enjoy yourself ;-)

The Oddworld titles are great! It's a puzzle game primarily. You have to rescue your fellow Mudokens from the clutches of the evil corporation Soulstorm Brewery. However, the mechanics for rescuing them are top notch. From possessing the guards to all sorts of other things. I heartily recommend getting at least Oddworld 2: Abe's Exxodus.

The third time the update notification turned up today, I invited it to take a running jump and... *rude gesture*

I played through Exoddus once on my PS1, and really liked it. I picked up both the Abe's games here during a sale and started Oddysee but had also gotten several other games, and got sidetracked.

genkicolleen: Bear with me whilst I derail the thread for a moment.

I was just thinking about my birthday (back in May) and that my brother bought me 2 Steam Gift Cards as a present because he couldn't get a gift card for GOG ('cause they don't exist! >_<)

With the holidays coming up, it makes me wish even more that we had the ability to have gift cards for GOG. Surely they're losing a lot of money by not offering them!

If you agree that they'd be a good addition here, please take a moment to VOTE for the feature!

I now return you to GOG sales talk and ninja gifting XD
Vote cast - its in fate's hands now.... (tremulous music, perhaps the beseeching sight of a young child's eyes, uncertain of where its mother is or where that disquieting music is coming from)

Last night when it was really late and tiredness filled my head,
with eyes too dry so all that I could focus on was bed,
the deals were dragging on and on with nothing new to see,
yet all I hoped was very soon a deal would come for me.
Yet nothing came, and nothing came, the emptiness was vast,
so to the forum did I turn, which turned into a blast!
Such humour, friendship, common thoughts, all upbeat and sincere,
the people there made me feel so delighted I am here.

Please feel free to extend any and all thanks to Viking Stilton!
This really is great, Stilton, I'm so glad you've made your presence known around here ^__^ I'd love to join in on the prose, but I've been so tired of late* that my creativeness has taken a hit ;p

Just took a closer look at "Don't Starve", I always thought it was another of the 'survival horror' games I don't care for.
Actually looks rather fun. Opinions? Fast, slow, hard, easy, etc?

Just looking at the graphics, I'd say I had no interest in it (not really into spaceships and techie stuff), but I've seen so many people rave about it that I'd like to know; What is it that's so compelling about FTL?

It's interesting. Steam recently had a free weekend for Don't Starve, and I tried it then. Basically, you try not to die for as long as possible. Gather all of the resources you can, build new tools, farming equipment, weapons, a home fort, etc. Fend off enemies and monsters, and Don't Starve!

Well here's something; because I'm required to produce one a day (legally binding agreement, my lawyer's on it) I was finding the 'Sitting down and thinking about it' bit really hard UNTIL that same point of difficulty became the subject I wrote about. Rather than fictionalizing, I've found that tapping into feelings and amplifying/accentuating them produces reasonably satisfying results. Which surprised me. If you can make time it really helps push aside the difficulties, and boy, do I need a break from the everyday....
