On top of that, when they register to our service, they'll receive all the 12 free games we add to all the newly-created accounts. That way your friends will start their adventure with GOG.com with a collection of 15 great games total already on their virtual shelves! Be kind, share the good news! :-)

jackster79: And to think I was considering getting Surgeon Simulator 2013 when it came up in my Brave New Worlds deal over the weekend...

Ophelium: It's definitely not a masterpiece, but it's funny. It's just something to fool around with when you're bored. I was surprised by the amount of miscellaneous junk you can fool with at the receptionist's desk.
I mulled it over, but in the end decided it seems more gimmicky than anything. With the backlog I just said forget it - even Daikatana would be time better spent.

Funny thing is, I also thought Leisure Suit Larry from your list would be my first choice of what I do not have, but just checked and found out lo and behold I have that one too! XD

I think I better print out a copy of that list and keep it handy, lest I find myself eventually acquiring all the titles listed on it.

Tell me... if someone enjoys pain, is it torture? I must as I keep getting games like that....

Oh, I enjoy horrible cinema: Takashi Miike films, horror films from the 60's and 70's, and decent camp like Return of the Living Dead. I also enjoy fairly gnarly games, D3's budget series comes to mind. Earth Defense Force 2017 and Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad were my favorites on the Xbox 360. It's not really torture, you know what you like and sometimes a bad experience is better than no experience at all.

Awful is still better than bland, in my opinion. With so many games being cookie cutter replications of a few basics, even the steaming piles have them beat by way of sheer unique horror.

gscotti: This promo is not going to reach the fever and monetary success of the Insomnia Sale. That was the stuff of legends.

This? A bit meh.
avatar
jackster79: It was.

The only kind that I think will ever come close is another flash sale, as that is the only sales format I can think of that will accomplish what the Insomnia Sale did: keep participants glued to their computers and socializing in the forums in real-time as they attempt to stay on top of the deals.
Yup - it was an explosive combo of really deep discounts, and a format that promoted socializing.

Still haven't bought anything this time around. It's true, though, that I have already too many games on GOG. I'm trying to be wise about my spending.
For someone who missed out on the Fallout Trilogy here some keys.

Thanks for the link :)
Anyone who might still be awake want to give me any impressions they have of Aarklash Legacy? Been going back and forth on whether or not to buy it for hours now, so any insight would be hugely appreciated.

CarthageKing: Can anyone who owns Might and Magic 5 to 9 tell me about the downloadable soundtrack that comes with the games here in GOG? Is it in FLAC format or MP3?

Saw it on sale here and I was thinking of buying the entire bundle. I probably won't play all of them though but would just listen to the soundtrack.
avatar
nijuu: MM VII & VIII soundtrack is mp3 320 kbps. No idea about 1-6 (not installed)
Might & Magic pack 1-6 contains:
the soundtrack of MM IV in 128kpbs mp3's,
the soundtrack of MM VI in 320kbps mp3's.
Is the Re-Roll option just meant to be there to antagonise us about how poorly the present mechanic works or is it actually supposed to function? I've been clicking it so much my finger is bloody and I think there's some bone showing, yet nothing is happening.

Also DAYYOU DAYYYYOUUUU Daylight come and me wan' go homeeee.

Looks like they're working to get it up and running before day 7 starts. Had the reroll option for my screen for hours, went to look after you mentioned it and now it's gone completely, along with the entire present display.

Daily surprise section is back but the actual content isn't loading yet it seems (at least not for me).
A reroll option would be great as I've had nothing good come up yet :(
It does depend on how they implement said option though.
Infinite rerolls won't happen cause that can be abused.
But will rerolls be to reroll the game under the present you already chose or will you be able to change your chosen present to another type?
Neither is ideal since you could technically still end up with something you don't want but at least you have an extra chance to possibly get something you'd want.

I don't know how the algorithm behind the daily surprise works, but perhaps it should try & prioritize games that people have on their wishlist. People are more likely to buy something from the daily surprise if it's actually something they've wishlisted.
ReRoll? People spend hours re-rolling characters, how much will they roll when actual money is involved?

grviper: ReRoll? People spend hours re-rolling characters, how much will they roll when actual money is involved?
Hmm. Until they get a game they don't own yet?
At least that's what I make of it. But still I'd rather wait for an official announcement.
I wonder why Settlers bundles is doing that badly... They are really good games and are not discounted often, especially when compared to the other bundle or at least parts of it (I've seen many SMAC/SMAX and MoO1+2 promos and I guess they are the driving force in 4X bundle). Perhaps it's because many people don't want to buy sequels, they prefer to get the best part from the series. In that case 4X bundle may be more appealing... Even though such a high disproportion of votes is a bit surprising for me...
