Section updated: Don't forget about your gamer friends that may not know GOG.com yet! Sadly, for the sake of unburdening what servers we have, we had to turn off the option for gifting free games. But you can always just let them know they can sign up with GOG.com and claim a free gift of Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. On top of that, when they register to our service, they'll receive all the 12 free games we add to all the newly-created accounts. That way your friends will start their adventure with GOG.com with a collection of 15 great games total already on their virtual shelves! Be kind, share the good news! :-)

jackster79: Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor.... :-O

Even with sales I did not acquire that many titles in that short a span, ever, in any of the GOG sales! Holy Smokes! I bow to you sir!
Heh, some of GOG's sales are really hard to resist ;) For me the most crazy sale ever was Christmas last year. I bought... 40 games then. But I've just checked, I finished 24 of them so it's not that bad, is it?

During this sale I bought 3 games and two DLCs so far but I own 229 games on GOG so I already have most of games I wanted

Buenro-games: At least I still keep access to my games in GOG after they yank them... :D

"Sometimes movie executives make decisions so obviously bone-headed, it leaves one wondering if these people consult actual humans before making product decisions. In this case, Disney has decided to yank certain movies off the shelf right in time for Christmas. If the House of Mouse was simply opting not to sell movies digitally, that would be one thing. What it’s actually doing is yanking those films out of your purchased library. Yes, if you’ve bought a Disney movie on Amazon Video, you may log in today and find it missing from your library. You didn’t think that you actually owned the digital videos that you bought, did you?"

Merry Christmas from Disney... lolol

They are saying now though it was a 'mistake', after the sh!tstorm of course, lolol
avatar
jackster79: Merry Christmas indeed!

Never used the service, and glad after reading your post. Even if GOG followed this policy I would still be ahead just by virtue of downloading and backing up everything. To my knowledge one can never do that with films acquired digitally anywhere (legitimately).

Still, shame on Disney. While it is their right to do whatever they want with their IP, methinks they are getting away with too much.
Well, I've gotten 21 of them since the winter sale started. Worst case scenario, I can run through, grab 6 dollar items at half price and get another 34.

timppu: I just tried it myself (switched off wifi on my laptop and started the game), the game plays fine offline. Not sure why it isn't working for you. Did you choose the offline option in the game, and didn't try to log in to the leaderboards or whatever?
Interesting that that worked for you. Maybe wiifi is somehow handled differently.

I didn't choose the offline option, because it never gets that far; the game just hangs trying to establish an internet connection. So for me, being offline prevents the game from offering to let me play offline -- I need to be online to get that option!
Ended up buying the Roguelikelike bundle :).Nice!!

Odd question

For those who bought Strike Suit Zero within the first month of launch on GOG , did you actually receive any free dlc pack (mentioned in the original launch promo) ?

I am in the same position in that most of the must haves are already owned, with the wish list being more of a "interested-in" list than a "must-have" list. But you take the cake in keeping up... my pitiful 2 for the year is woefully insignificant compared to your 24. Damn RL and short attention span for getting in the way!

21 already since Thursday?!? Again, I bow to you. I think the most I ever got in a single sale was my very first Christmas sale (2011), but even then I think I may have only gotten ?12-15? (trying to remember how many I got in the End-of-the-World sale last year, but do think it was that much). Since I have such a hard time keeping up and actually finishing the games I get, probably just as well I do not buy as much now like I did then.

Playing catch-up, trying to capitalize on every sale I can. Figure I'll clear out what I can, start saving for summer, grab piecemeal items on smaller promos. Having a virtually nonexistent collection bugged the crap out of me for some time, now attempting to rectify the problem.
From the roguelikelike i miss only Spelunky, but that i got for free from a game mag.
Space Sim....no interest in Strike Suit Zero.

For tomorrow the M&M bundle is pretty good...but i own it.

But there is the hope for the second one and....yeah the surprise :P

I remember you being quite active during the Insomnia Sale, always up when I was, so I know you bought a good chunk then too ;)
I picked up about 9 games during the Insomnia (including one to trade), and 9 so far this sale (including the Free Fallouts for me, not including the copies of Fallout for gifting/trade later on).
Before these sales, all I had were the freebies. I hadn't even played one of them until Insomnia, when I rediscovered Torchlight, and have been loving it!
Now I've got to free up harddrive space on my MacBook, and finalize the Windows partition on my Mac desktop, and this Christmas vacation will have me sitting pretty ;)

Hoping for a Sierra bundle BIG TIME, as that's what drew me to GOG in the first place. Shame that only the Larry's have been ported to Mac :/
This promo is not going to reach the fever and monetary success of the Insomnia Sale. That was the stuff of legends.

This? A bit meh.

Pica-Ludica: Got "The Swapper" for 4.99$ as my Daily Surprise, and I've never even heard of this game. However, it has a 5-star rating on GOG and some stellar but rather generic reviews, so I was wondering whether someone would be willing to pitch it? In what way is it different from and/or better/more unique than other puzzle platformers that would warrant a purchase? (Considering that I like my puzzle platformers to be more bright and colorful, like Braid or Trine)
avatar
Ghorpm: I can talk about "The Swapper" the whole night if you want ;) I got it yesterday from my friend and man, I had a blast playing it. First of all - ignore tags. It's not an action game for Pete's sake! There is no action whatsoever there. Absolutely nothing is time dependent. Everything is up to you - how fast you can solve those puzzles. I would say it's a puzzle game in 2D platformer-like environment. I said that because it doesn't feel right to call it platformer game. There are no difficult jumps, no single-pixel-precision, nothing like that. Sometimes it happened that I fell and died but it was so because I was thinking too hard about the plot and didn't realize it's time to do something to avoid death ;) My bad ;) And yes, the plot is important. If I wrote here about it it wouldn't seem to be very original. But the way it's served in the game makes it very intriguing. It put me in a reflective mood and just a few games manage to do that. 95% of the game is about puzzles and the creepy, dark story and I found it great that there was no action/typical platformer part. I can, however, imagine that if somebody doesn't like puzzles too much he/she won't enjoy the game.
Oh, I do love puzzles! Actually, puzzle platformers frustrate me a bit because they often require good reflexes and pixel-perfect manoeuvres in addition to logic, and for me it kinda gets in the way of the puzzle solving.
Thanks a lot for your input, now I'm very intrigued by the game. :) Since I'm not interested in either of tomorrow's Community bundles, I'll give The Swapper a go instead. :)
Cheers!

Yes,didn't sleep very much at all for that one. Ended up with a dozen items if I wrote it down right. Never was exposed to the early Sierra library, so if one came along I would probably end up buying it like you would. Could also go for ones including Broken Sword, Lands of Lore and Legend of Kyrandia.

It was.

The only kind that I think will ever come close is another flash sale, as that is the only sales format I can think of that will accomplish what the Insomnia Sale did: keep participants glued to their computers and socializing in the forums in real-time as they attempt to stay on top of the deals.
Do you know if Rune Classic is in Timeless Classics or Brave New World?

It's an old game, but it's also a new version with added content.
avatar
Pica-Ludica: I'll give The Swapper a go
Do be warned: it has an unexplained bug on some systems that randomly crashes the entire machine. Leastways, the Humble Widget version (which I have; latest version) does, and the Steam version [url=http://steamcommunity.com/app/231160/discussions/0/846954921926836118/]also does, so I should imagine the GOG version is vulnerable too.

It appears that per this thread (http://www.gog.com/forum/general/daily_personal_deals_tracker_2013_drmfree_winter_sale) that Rune is not in any of the daily personal deals.
