Stoltverd: Im confused and afraid of the "Wrap-UP" promo...
Does that means that the sale ends today?
Maybe this will clear up things for you - from the OP of this very thread:
Our 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale will last until Sunday, December 29, at 1:59PM GMT.
This means the last day started today (now yesterday) Saturday, Dec 28 at 14:00 GMT for a 24 hours run, thus ending tomorrow (now today) Sunday, Dec 29 at 13:59 GMT.
In other words, it'll be over in about 10.5 hours from now.
Our 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale will last until Sunday, December 29, at 1:59PM GMT.

51 bucks on games D:
Don't get me started on what I've spent during this sale. I haven't so shamefully splurged out on games in a very long while, if ever. I've counted the games I bought, but I'm afraid to count the money I've spent. ^^; It felt good to give myself carte blanche for a change, and indulge myself...

... but like you said, after-buy guilt is kicking in. v_v

BillyMaysFan59: I totally see your point! It's just that the community discussion part for this sale wasn't nearly as involved or exciting as with the Insomnia promo, but on the other hand GOG has seen quite a bit of traffic. Boy that Fallout giveaway sure clogged the servers pretty good.

(QUOTE) We're overwhelmed by popularity of our service right now ;) Please check back soon! (/QUOTE)

Saw that message a lot for the first few days of the sale :D
Yeah, the Fallout giveaway was epic server murder. From what I read GOG had to quadruple the number of servers to handle the load. What's funny is that GOG took care of the problem faster than Valve took care of the same problem they had from their Left 4 Dead 2 freebie giveaway promo, and their giveaway didn't even allow gifting to 3rd parties, nor did it allow more than one copy per person! Shows that GOG is very much on top of things IMHO! :)

It was definitely amusing to see Steam choking and dying trying to give a single game away, especially with the restrictions applied versus what GOG offered. Speaking strictly from personal opinion, GOG also had them beat in the quality of what they chose to give away. Just played Left 4 Dead 2 for the first time a little while ago, and certainly wasn't impressed. Would take the original Fallout games over that in a heartbeat.

Yeah, Steam being out to lunch for almost an entire 24 hours for one simple game giveaway was quite a surprise to me considering they're the largest digital game distributor as far as I'm aware, so I figured they would have dealt with this sort of thing before and had a backup plan in place ready to kick in more servers at a moment's notice or whatever. I guess companies of any size can dramatically underestimate the server load requirements of promotions and other web content they might put up that could gain extreme popularity though. ;)

I had just purchased the "Valve Pack" that includes all of Valve's games only a few hours or so before the free promo of Left 4 Dead 2, so technically I had already bought it. :) But there were 12 Valve games altogether which I didn't already own in a secondary account so now I have every Valve game in my primary account. I added the freebie promo of L4D2 in my secondary account though and installed it to lock it in according to instructions on the game's blog. Went ahead and tried the game out just to see how it played and it isn't exactly what I expected but looks interesting to me nonetheless. I'm a big fan of 80s horror/gore films including the multitude of cheesy zombie flicks, so this game is right up in that whole thing...

The one thing I didn't like so far though, is that it seems the zombies are sometimes ridiculously fast and can spawn in incredible numbers all of a sudden and overwhelm you. That seems a little unrealistic to me and gives the game a bit of a "consolitis" type feel of one of the cheesy Playstation/Xbox/whatever type games that just send horde after horde of enemies at you to slay with almost no AI etc. I hope the game has more interesting elements to it, some story like Halflife had, and better AI than what I saw so far. It does have a number of things that do interest me though such as a controllable squad, a large range of weapons, and of course a great game engine powering it. The 900 mile per hour zombies are just unrealistic though, I would have preferred something more "Dawn of the Dead" in nature, but I'll give it some good play time and try to find all of its strengths and weaknesses. ;)

To me, there was one game that handled the idea of enemies that spawn right in your lap well. That was the old Serious Sam games. (First and second encounter, specifically) To me, they took the tone they were going for and shot it in the face. In a matter of minutes, the idea of a lone group of survivors trying to escape a hostile environment turned into, "Well, this is just silly. If zombies are literally falling out of the sky, and then running 20 miles an hour after they land, AND they're supplemented by some type of mutant presence as well? Noone would live through it. This is only happening because it's a video game." And once you see that, any tension is gone, any suspense is gone, anything but the feeling of you being in a shooting gallery controlled by a randomizer is gone. Really, really glad I didn't spend money on it.

Yeah, it really does require suspension of disbelief so far. I think I would ultimately prefer something more like DOOM3 type mood/setting with true horror/terror type zombies rather than ultraspawning mutant zombies with humour. But it's ultimately all about the exploding head shots and brain matter splatter. I gotta see that before I judge. Hehehe.

skeletonbow: Is your avatar image from one of the Still Life games?
Yes, it is.

HypersomniacLive: The metric obviously being the number of pages devoted to Jack Keane :-P
It was certainly educational. I had no idea that some games, no matter how lemonic, could sell so badly.

It certainly provided a welcome break in the sale.

Ghorpm: Sooo... that's Volgarr vs. Ghorpm, round 3 :D

I still have an issue with this game, as described here. But this time he brought a pack of friends and only VVVVVV is harmless (I own it already) so perhaps... Third time's a charm? Fortunately I still have some time to decide.
I'm happy to announce that Volgarr finally won his battle :D It was, however, round number 4 because I've got it a few minutes ago, not during "Run, Jump, and Fight" day but "Wrap Up" day. I did it mostly to get other games but since irony is a cruel mistress I won't be surprised if it turns out that Volgarr will be my favorite game from this bundle ;P We will see...
How on earth can I purchase more than 1 bundle at a time? It just lets me purchase one bundle at a time but then my bank goes nuts and starts denying everything. Since its after hours I can't afford to lock my card down but I NEED THOSE BUNDLES :D Any help is appreciated

If you add the games individually to your basket you will get the reduced bundle price once all the games from a bundle are in the basket.
*looks through recent purchases.... omg mostly trades of gifts to others or receive gifts...i better ummm buy some more games* (",)
