2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale Video Recommendations playlist

Section updated: Don't forget about your gamer friends that may not know GOG.com yet! Sadly, for the sake of unburdening what servers we have, we had to turn off the option for gifting free games. But you can always just let them know they can sign up with GOG.com and claim a free gift of Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. On top of that, when they register to our service, they'll receive all the 12 free games we add to all the newly-created accounts. That way your friends will start their adventure with GOG.com with a collection of 15 great games total already on their virtual shelves! Be kind, share the good news! :-)

We'd also like to remind you, that all purchases on GOG.com are now covered with our new 30-day Worldwide Money Back Guarantee, so your holiday gaming shopping spree is safer than it ever was before.

Worldwide Money Back Guarantee announcement video

johnnygoging: I appreciate the change to the personal deals ticker. It's good to be able to see the games beforehand so you know what it is you're going to get. That's smart and it's also more likely to make everybody happy. Good job, GOG.

lefty: Well, not for me. I'd rather have one (random) game of the entire catalog than one game of three titles.
I'm not sure what you mean. The way things are now, you get to choose one of three games that are randomly selected among their respective pools (Timeless Classics, Brave New Worlds and Random Magic). Basically, instead of one random choice (as was before), you have three, so triple the chance of getting something you might like (or, at least, something you can trade away).

It's a 100% improvement over the previous system, is it not?

skeletonbow: Last year all of the deals that ran throughout the entire sale for December were repeated on a single day twice. ..

it's reasonable to speculate that there will be a last day encore sale again this year for people who missed out or held back until they got to see all of the deals. There's no guarantee of it of course, but it would follow what they've done in the past.

undeadcow: Normally I would agree with this, but GOG explicitly stated (in the original post of the Festimas announcement ) that the repeats yesterday would be last chance offers not to repeat again.

I do think GOG will do something grand for the final day, but suspect that is when they will offer voted down deals.
Ah, I never noticed that I guess. I'm not sure how the announcements went last year but I don't think the encore sale was pre-announced or any hints of it given. They might have even added it as a last second surprise that wasn't planned in advance perhaps. I haven't missed anything myself as I've been paying attention every day and when I see something I want, I just get it right away rather than delaying and hoping it comes on sale again in a week. I do hope that from now until the end of the sale that they put all games not previously on sale in the last month or so though as the only game that's come up for me so far was Wing Commander Prophecy and the Fallout freebies. All other games in the sale surprisingly were games I own already or wasn't interested in which is kind of unusual hehe. Hoping to be able to pick up some titles from my wishlist. If only I had games on my wishlist that ever go on sale. :)
I hope that Sci-Fi bundle wins for tomorrow, I want Descent 3. Actually that's all I want from the bundle as I already have Descent 1+2.
Slowly paring away at my wishlist, and tomorrow's projected bundle will help. Course, it's still large enough that if I wrote it down I could bludgeon cattle with it. Still hoping for something in an Evil Genius/Etherlords/Broken Sword/we picked the games by throwing darts at a board while drunk so deal with it bundle.

Hey, Terminal Velocity is a cool game too. They should, however, also add Freespace1&2..

Anyway, I'm not sure how these pack promo work, if not full.
If I now buy AlphaCentauri + MasterofOrion + FragileAllegiance only, I pay $2.99 x3, but is this just the base 50% "Winter" discount?
If I buy them after "Turn-based 4X Classics" promo, will those prices increase?

Schnuff: GOG does follow the forum.
Nice a re-roll option....from 6 games the only one i don't own
is Fist Puncher....dunno if that is good.
I had a lot of fun with it. You'll enjoy it if you're not a graphics whore and used to play old side-scrolling beat-'em-ups.
if only there were more games to purchase...the fee for the transaction kills most of the save.

The "Turn-based 4X Classics" promo requires you to complete the bundle in order to get the higher discount - it even says so on the top

If you buy only selected games you'll get the regular 50% discount.

As far as I can tell, the games you've selected part-take in the general 50% sale, so they should cost the same ($2.99 x3) even after the "Turn-based 4X Classics" promo ends.

This is what I needed to know, thanks!

True. Daily Surprises, for example, don't seem stackable with other cart items.

Maybe they should have added an insomnia feel to the sale. Things feel a bit flat right now :/

Well, if one day could be turned into a super-duper midpoint sale inside a large overall sale, maybe it's possible to see a two or three day insomnia sub-sale?
