klaymen: Because it is more of a sellers' celebration. You know, it is the day when they sell plenty of flowers, chocolates or other crap to hordes of "hurr, Imma buyz moar shit for him/her because it is THE day" customers.
Most cultures have annual celebrations of fertility. It's actually kinda weird we spent so long not doing it.

6.22 of course, even though I've always used 6.20 (and started my DOS career with version 5.0)....

I'm going to cut down smoking to only when I'm at parties, and since I'm also gonna cut down heavily on the parties, I'm hoping those two will weigh each other out so that I'll almost never smoke or drink! :)
