Hi all,

with a lot of gifting last year (as much as it was possible for me). I will try something different this year.

In Germany, we usualy have an "Advent Calendar" in December until Christmas and we will get a little present every day. I would love to bring this to this community by setting up a competition every day from 1st to 24th of December.

Every day, a 9.99$ GOG Game shall be giftet. As this is a lot of money for me (with my Car just stolen and after moving home and needed to buy everything!), I need your all help.

If you can help by contribution games (codes will do it), programming skills (will need a nice looking Calendar to collect the daily entries) or money, please do so.

If you could spare a dollar or two, I have set up a ChipIn Contribution Site here:
http://gogcomadvent.chipin.com/gogcom-advent-calendar

Would be great, if we can get this going together.

EDIT:

If you like to donate a game key, please send the key to: gunnar@steincke.cc
Please don't forget to state which game it is and that it is for the Advent Calendar.

I was actually thinking this Christmas holiday season ... why not set up a Secret Santa pool? For those who don't know what that is, Secret Santa is where everyone signs up and lists one game (or a list of potential games from which a gift can be chosen) they would like to get for Christmas (or whatever holiday they are celebrating). Then everyone gets assigned a person and you donate a game to that person anonymously.

That saves on one person having to buy all the games and everybody gets something and gives something. :)

This ran last year and I think someone will set this up again this year, as it was a big success.

This is a completely different idea :)

I'll run it again this year. Just look out for the thread at the start of December (it stayed pretty near the top last year).
Got you started off with a donation :)

Good idea to start this early, plenty of time to get it ready!

I tried, but I am unable to donate myself :(

I will deduct the total amount instead and post a message about it on the Page :)

BTW.: Thank you for the initial contribution :)

Thank you very much. Yes, it is running better than expected already in the first hours :)

If it goes on this fast, we might double it later to gift 2 games per Day in December. Let's see... I will now start working on the Calendar functions :)
I'll be sure to contribute something soon. Sounds like a good idea. Could be quite fun!

As much as I'd like to help out with the calendar itself, I can't really program.

And sorry to hear about your car :(.

The Coding is not the problem, I have absolutely no talent in design ;)
What is needed:
- a quite nice GOGStyle Christmas Szene, a Picture in the Size of about 800x700 px (I will place the calendar doors on it).

And this is mainly it. :)

Aww, damn you! After the first post I was already going to ask what you had in mind (which language and set-up, where you'd host,...), but well, with the artistic talent of a dead goat I'm out of question for creating the artwork.

Nice idea though! Are the contests going to be GoG related, games related (e.g. multi player matches), Christmas related, or just 'post here'-threads?

And you're even more evil as you never replied to me query on the Neptune's pride thread :p

Sorry Fujek,

I quit playing that game after I saw, that everyone around me never started to play. The Game had become boring to quickly :(

Regarding the Calendar, it will be hosted on my own Server, where I have a lot of game servers running without any problem :)

What kind of Contest it will have, no idea yet, but we still have 9 months to go ;) Way enough time to come up with ideas... I am already thinking about different tasks per day.
- Post in Thread (easiest one *gg*)
- Play a Flash Game (Highscore enabled)
- ...

There are a lot of possibilities. :)

The Calendar itself will be quite easy to code... HTML 5 is really handy for this ;)
