OK guys I see PART of the pattern here now that it's mostly filled up. At the bottom we start off with two movies that both feature a superhero/comic book character and a movie with his name on it. Above that are eight movies, then another two items that are both a name of a comic book character and a movie, this time followed by eight superheros/comic book characters, then the pattern repeats.. So this definitely means 22, 23, 25 and 26 are definitely movies, while 13, 16 and 17 are superheroes. Then the "break" in the pattern as the author alluded to is seen. In order for the pattern to remain unbroken there would have to be a number 0 entry, which of course there isn't. 10 and 11 would presumably be both a superhero and a movie with a superhero's name in it, and the rest are movies, which would make only seven more movies. So... OK then. He has also said number 1 is a "special case" item. Whatever that means...

This would seem to make sense (only room for four superheroes based on the pattern) BUT this counts to 18 total left, but when I count I get 17. Is this a mistake or an intentional trick? IS there an "entry 0"? My guess... a movie that was remade with the same title. Let's say it's a sci-fi movie made in the 70s and remade in the 2000s. Since it's a movie with no comic book connection there would be no need to repeat it twice (I guess?), and would fulfill 2 categories of each of the above hints (crossing off the 70s bit and one 2000s bit, and two sci-fi bits). Or maybe...

EDIT: Forget the above nonsense there IS in fact 18 left, I don't know why I kept getting 17. This happens to me all the time, it's like I'm being fucked with by... the, uh, Spirit of... Counting? Or maybe I didn't watch enough Count von Count as a kid.

I DON'T KNOW I JUST DON'T KNOW AAAGGHH. And this of course doesn't explain the connection between the movies and the comic book characters themselves, which is the REALLY hard part. What a glorious, glorious mess.
