triock: Congrats Joppo and thanks again Momo (and anonymous donor).
I concur on the congratulations and thanks both, and since I picked up a copy of this bundle for myself, please count me in for Triock (if Triock is entering which I wasn't certain of from this post) otherwise please count me in for Robb5 since Thespian* has odds so far on this giveaway and I like voting for the underdog!

avatar
BranjoHello: If its possible to get just FEZ from that bundle I'm in.
Unfortunately due to Humble Bundle terms of service the download links are not supposed to be shared and the keys (if any) are not supposed to be split up.

Crsldmc: Thanks for the heads up lugum, didn't know that, like I said I've not seen him enter too many GAs.

You use GOG and Desura only too right?
avatar
lugum: That is correct. And Gamersgate, but not as much.
I started with GOG and Origin since I bought BF3 Premium Edition during my first visit to the states, when I joined the forums everything changed hehe, Steam, Desura and GamersGate came along.

BlueKronos: please count me in for Triock (if Triock is entering which I wasn't certain of from this post)

Thank you Momo! As I said above, it's pretty hard to stop you and the generous donors from gifting, isn't it?

Count me in for HB9 because it's simply too tempting.

Right then :-) please count me for Robb5.
I'm in for Humble Indie Bundle 9. Thanks.
You know, something tells me that if people posted WHY they want the bundle, say that there's this great game that they've been REALLY hyped over and eager to play, they would stand a much better chance of winning...

Don't phone it in, guys! Just saying...

Crsldmc: I started with GOG and Origin since I bought BF3 Premium Edition during my first visit to the states, when I joined the forums everything changed hehe, Steam, Desura and GamersGate came along.
I was forced into using steam when it first came out as I was big into playing Half Life 1 mods at the time (using Gamespy *shudder* and Xfire to find multiplayer servers. I kicked and complained, especially about the potential for FPS drops having the steam client running and trying to have an overlay; but, truth be told after playing on it for a couple years, saw how easy it was for the purpose of multiplayer games at least which I needed to be online for anyway and then got sucked into using it more when they started having their daily and weekend sales. Only had my orange box games on steam up to that point.

Similarly with Origin, it was when I was trying to register a physical box copy recently that I was required to activate through Origin. Which since it has none of the convenience factor of steam, nor the good pricing deals and the games I own which have to be played through Origin have up to this point all been single player games it's just a hassle. And since I'm never on it except when I have to be it always has to update when I first need to open it, causing further hassle.

But, looking at it rationally as something outside of what I've become accustomed too Steam has a lot of the same frustrations and DRM issues though not quite as invasive as Origin at this point seems to be. Get most all of my games here when possible at this point, and often will hold off on a new steam release if it's possible GOG.com could get it at a later point. I've recently gotten a few things on GreenManGaming because of good deals with a sale coupon on top of them. Mostly though they just resell steam keys, for their non-steam games though I don't much care for their capsule client and would much rather have a DRM free direct download such that I even forget I have those games until I go looking and remember to check the capsule client, as I don't allow any client programs to launch on startup which I've heard from other steam users and seen on my own system with steam alone can add several minutes to my system boot if allowed and while auto updates to the client and games are convenient, it's not always convenient to have my bandwidth tied up by a client program when I'm trying to do something else. Up to this point haven't gotten anything through gamersgate, and the only things I've gotten on desura are in process projects I supported or gifts.

Ok, sorry for adding to the off-topic conversation with this long post, but to sum up, I don't like the concept of the DRM and always on clients; but, personally I'm ok with Steam just because I've been using it for so long (over 10 years now) and it seems to do what it does better than any of the others and at least for me provides some niceties in trade for it's form of DRM which I'm willing to live with. The others though, just seem like extra hoops forced upon the consumer, even Desura feels that way to me as I've not done enough research for the 4 things I have on it to know how or if I can run them independent of the client.
As you know, not in, but HERES THE BIG GUNS!

Good for me, I still hadn't decided on someone to back. Then again, Thespian* could do with an extra vote...

I can only agree with you mate, I appreciate you took your time to reply in such an specific way, glad to know your point of view in these matters.

I find Steam and my other clients to be ok, none of them launch on startup same as you, the only one I launch after startup it's Steam because it take some time to launch a game when not open (Desura, Origin when needed of course, happens the same with Origin's updates), but that just when in "gaming" days, I don't like extra softwares running in the background if I have no use for them at the moment, so pretty much only the essentials launch at startup.

When I installed Steam I was convinced that I was going to regret it, but I think I've learned to like it, as long as it launches when I want it, and updates whatever updates when I want it I'm totally fine, the second thing I like about it is the fact I can actually know how many hours I've put in a game, for some reason I like to know. (The only game that's always installed in my PC is M&B Warband, don't own it at Steam, but I've played it since it came out so, love that game and the mods it has)

On the DRM front, well obviously I love DRM free, so far I've been fine with the DRM on some of my titles, they have not given me any major issues. (only a store bug with Max Payne 3 which I just dropped)

Thanks once again for sharing your story here mate. +1
Hello....
Is it...BUMP you're looking for?
Because I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do

Sounds like Lionel Richie but...

KainLocke46: I haven't been active on the forums for long, but it's obvious that Thespian is a well respected member and deserves a good thing now and then. I'll go in for him as well.
Thank you very much, KainLocke! :)

And I hope we'll see you more often from now on. ;)

avatar
Crsldmc: I was going to enter to get the soundtracks and a third FTL key for my lil brother since they both (younger and older) loved the game.

But to be honest I don't remember seeing Thespian joining for a giveaway so there you go mate! You deserve it!

In for the crazy Vulcan!
avatar
lugum: It's not a rareity that he joins, especially if it is a GOG game he often joins, or desura.
He doesn't use steam though.
lugum is right, Crsldmc, I often enter in GAs (both for myself or for others). I don't "deserve it" (I only host GAs, but all the prizes in them have been donated previously by generous forum members -lugum is one of them-, so I consider myself just "the delivery guy"). Nodaways, thank you for the kind compliment, and the generous vote. :)

avatar
lukslo: I believe we can call this giveaway rigged :D

NP, Thespian ;)
I'm beginning to think that, too. :D

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you... :P

Just kidding. :D I love Thief series AND side-scrolling games, so as soon as I learn about Mark of the Ninja I felt in love with it (besides, who knows, maybe playing this game will improve my arthritic ninjitsu in the Ninja thread -hey, dreaming is free!- :D). Trine 2 is the sequel to one of the most gorgeous indie games I ever played, and I'm looking forward to enjoy it. Fez gameplay looks really amazing and innovative and Eets Munchies is so... cute. Aww! ;)

I chose not to enter in another previous GA with HIB 9 as the prize because I already own Brutal Legend (thanks, ISC!) and FTL (thanks, Gazoinks and Starmaker!), but the temptation was too great to let it pass a second time (I'm half-human, after all).:D
