PMIK: What we backers need to start demanding is a detailed breakdown of where the funds are expected to go. Many KS projects have done this already. If someone is asking for $30,000 to make it, where did they get that number from? Why do you need that much? etc. etc.
Just like a publisher would? :D There are reasons why publishers are still a huge part of making a video game, and having the purse strings / ability to enforce good business decisions is a big part of that.

And yeah, this is not news to anyone who actually thinks about projects they back. I've backed some pretty random projects, but always from people who looked and sounded like they knew what they were doing. The most frustrating one was a project where an unexpected technical issue cropped up *after* results were shipped, and even then the project person shipped out replacements and stuff. You just have to pick the projects carefully.
If someone outlines what they intend to use the money for and has good "rewards" (I call them bribes since technically you're donating to support a worthy cause) then you shouldn't fear backing them.

This looks like a bad situation, all out, period. I haven't heard of too many KS'ers ending up like this.

ET3D: Looks to me like he didn't intend this to be a scam. I think he basically tried to start a publishing business (...)
Become a publisher using crowdfunding ? This sounds an awful lot like Animal Farm...

Yeah well, I'm more equal...
Irrespective of where the risk lies, to exceed funding by 300% (I think) and then ditch the project is no better than an email from Nigeria stating that they have $2M waiting to go in to my account.

To me, this is fraud and I believe there's a very strong case for taking this down the legal route.
Gauss curve, everyone. Gauss curve...

Some awesome, and some disastrous. Most in between.

That's just how life works.

Oh, and screw that asshole.

StingingVelvet: Gotta love his "sue me and get nothing" bullshit. Slimeball.
I hope that Kickstarter will take some legal actions against him. Just to scare off any other scamers from Kickstarter.

Would be of course very nice, but do you think they´ll do?

This could lower their income and income is nearly everything!
I don´t believe in the point that masses will realice this issue, so first of all a big THANK YOU to Cormoran!

That's ballistic trajectory of shots fired by gauss rifle, right?
Some medium to big time publisher could get some huge amounts of goodwill if they'd buy this guy out on the cheap and then go forward with a limited edition game for the backers and potential buyers. Unless there's some huge legal hurdle, I literally can't se this going wrong. How much can a guy looking at the wrong end of a bad situation want for the whole shebang.
I did not fund this project, but backing someone who promises product is NOT a "donation". Backers need to sue if they at all have the means to.

This isn't a Kickstarter problem, its a crook problem. Sue the crook. He took your money at the promise of providing a product that he never provided.
