A short animation showing how the European borders have changed over the last 1000 years

That's quite interesting to watch, although in some time periods it changes too fast for the viewer to follow. It would be better to have a larger interactive version where you could use a slider to move the year, and possibly have a legend of which color corresponds to which political entity.
I dunno how accurate it is, but judging from my own country we don't appear on the map in the late 1200 :)

Actually now i understand, they choose to start from this time period (1000 years ago) witch is correct. It's during the reign of the Byzantine emperor Basil II.

We disappeared on the 5th-6th century, so don't complain.

which also would have made it possible to zoom in a bit. It is impossible to really see what is happening in central europe in the 17-18 century. To many small factions.

Agreed! Those intereactive sliders sure are awesome.
Have those bookstores really been around that long?
That was really interesting but the music was a little too epic for this early in the morning! =)

hahaha :D I heard it on the news back in 90s, must be true :D
Nice find, I like stuff like this.
Although, Doncaster (in UK) should be marked as Scottish too, as they still own it, or perhaps was too small to show up hehe
