I'm entering for the 9.99 on gog
1) i do not fail in fps unless i set some kind of superhardcore difficulty like the hardest setting in XIII which wasn't unplayable but fighting Moose at the end of the game was so frustrating i just quit. I don't really recall an "in your face" as well because if the difficulty is adequate then i'm ok with that but if the enemies are too lame it's not something that would make me "inyourfacing" them. That's mainly the case of bioshock and red faction. Red faction ended in like 4 hours and nothing even happened.
On the other hand there was one fps game that "inyourfaced" me. It was when i was playing RAGE which wasn't all that bad as a lot of people said it was until the point where the game just ended without even a chance of meeting the main villain whom everyone was telling me about throughout the game like he was THE superhardcore badass.
4)As for the new ones and old ones i actually played most of the old games from my library back in the day so the most exciting was probably playing Lands of lore 1+2 and Stonekeep, both of them were quite new to me. Stonekeep i didn't finish because the tentacle monster just refused to give up (and yes i did drain the water around that level) but LoL was really cool mainly because of the oldschool dungeoning and "vintage" voiceacting which i really like.
From the new ones it was probably the Blackwell bundle. I wasn't all that sure about indie adventure games but this one was quite clever with nice voiceacting making the characters quite likeable.
