Them Germans censoring games which ARE SUPPOSED to be 18+. I mean, really... (want to buy Fallout 3 and it's censored, of course. Good thing there are mods out there!!).

Thanks for the giveaway and it's one of the wishes I voted right at the beginning :)
Yaa Yaa Yaa. Like I said before, Yumekui Merry owns this thread. Stop or dogs will be sent to stop you.

grynn: Turkish government had banned YouTube, and it had been only accessible thru VPN's, proxies or custom DNS servers for 3 years, because 1 single video was insulting Atatürk. I mean I'm an extreme Kemalist and I love Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and everything he did but banning the whole network for 1 video? come on?!

Thanks Telika btw :D
Until recently, women in Saudi Arabia were forbidden to work in lingerie shops. There was a successful campaign against it and now the ban applies to men instead:

Ultra-Orthodox Jews don vision-blurring glasses to avoid looking at women who might be too immodestly dressed:

Anyway, thanks for the giveaway!

I saw a news report several years ago about an organisation which was releasing "toned down" versions of kids films. In addition to the expected changes they also saw fit to edit swordfights to replace the swords with lightsabers - why lightsabers were acceptable and swords were not I cannot say, but if you want The Princess Bride with lightsabers it exists somewhere.

Out of all the games, the one that boggles the mind is the SimAnt food share animation. Ridiculous in my opinion, though that may be because I've played the game :).
Ikea removed images of women from its catalogue in Saudi Arabia

Since I'm on a tablet and sadly bereft of the script's blessing, two words:
Tyson Homosexual.

(A sports event is currently promoted in Moscow, and one of the hueg posters features Tyson Gay and Usain Bolt. I'm really hoping some religious nut freaks out and calls the police.)
One word: 4Kids.
I'm in,
has anyone already mentioned the stupid censorship that happens in so "very liberal" country of Germany?
Like selling a heavily censored Saints Row?

Well, try google without SafeSearch.. pretty sure you'll find a lot of "giveaways" there..
One means of censorship happens to be not BUMPing a thread :P

Curiously, I can't think of any good examples to contribute, even though I'm absolutely sure I know a few. Only think I can recall is recently, the CBC blurring out some footage of cicada sex. Was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but sarcasm doesn't carry far in media. They had to clarify the next day :P

EDIT: I remembered a more historical example. You remember how McD tried to rename French fries to freedom fries when France opposed the invasion of Iraq? Well, a more persistent example occurred in 1917, when the US entered on the side of the Entente against Germany and Austria. It was deemed highly unpatriotic for Americans to keep enjoying Frankfurters, whose namesake was a major German city. So, to this day, we all still enjoy hot dogs, occasionally called Franks, though few know why ;)
