TrevorWilliams: So on my mobile here and don’t seem to be able to verify this on my own, but is Zoom download only on these freebies? I can’t save them to my account for later retrieval, at least on the phone.....
Free games show up on my account under the "Library" tab.

Speaking of freebies, I just noticed Zoom Platform is now offering Killing Time!
https://www.zoom-platform.com/#store-killing-time

That's very generous. They were charging for that not long ago.

Works surprisingly well too!

Even if the sounds are a little brutal on newer speakers

If anyone else has technical problems with the GOG version, I recommend you try this one.

For example, in my case, GOG version freezes for a couple of seconds after every mouse click, while the Zoom Platform version works "out of the box" without any technical problems.

ConsulCaesar: I will keep an eye on it though, as more competition is good for the customers and, at the end of the day, what I want is the games, not the website.
This.

To me, this seems like one of them no frills grocery stores , with cheaper prices yet bare bones stores(in this case site)....but as long as the games are good, DRM free, and at a fair price...well most other things are icing on the cake.
Having hung out on the zoom discord for the last couple of weeks I have to say zoom's staff are very friendly and eager to talk to people, they even have a games suggestion channel where you can suggest games they should persue to get on the storefront.

Hell I even managed to convince them to release Wolfpack a couple of days earlier, they are also going to be putting up a 12 mission "expansion" I made for the game as a downloadable bonus.

a pretty great place so far.

its good that GOG has some competition. hope they can keep up.

So they talk to the user base(and give more than blanket PR replies), and they take suggestions(like GOG's wishlist feature) more seriously & make use of people's input re: game suggestions and such? Nice.

GOG also used to do that....they would host extras for their games that other users submitted if the IP holders allowed it....nice to see Zoom doing that as well.

I agree it's good GOG has competition....hopefully it'll provide an incentive to GOG to shape up in some areas.

SlackR84: If it helps, I know theres at least an extra 120 games coming to zoom in the near future. Theres a new website in development with community features. However, theres a discord link in the short term (top left of website).
If you're part of the team or use the discord often to touch base with the Zoom team, then here's some suggestions for ya/for ya to suggest....first ones for the possible upcoming Zoom forums:

1. Don't cobble together the cheapest forum that's possible using the cheapest bidder like GOG did....if a forum is built, make sure it can evolve with the times and is built to last and function well.

2. Don't over police or over mod the forums....it has almost killed the discussion around here and turned the forums here to nearly hospital levels of sterility(despite the benefits and possible good intent of the initial implementation of modding here).

3. If you/they have mods, allow them to give users some leeway and instruct them to see customers more as friends than nuisances when they have to deal with them.

4. Have staff who interact with the Zoom forums give more than rare blanket PR responses that sound like they have been read off a script....many of the staffers do that here and it comes of as impersonal and uncaring.

5. Don't implement a rep system like here....it just causes a few other bad eggs to be able to promote people they like/agree with and paint a bad light on those they dislike/disagree with. If one is implemented, don't include a downrate/downrep button.

And some suggestions for the company/the games:

1. Always have games include original exes or files if possible, so people can use them on original or similar hardware, or be able to use some games in dosbox and the like.

2. Include change logs with games and updates to games, and update notifications when games are updated in one's library.

3. Some dislike clients here, for good or so so reasons.....please never make a client mandatory to DL or play one's games, and if you make an optional(truly optional) client please don't make it more preferable for one to use it over downloading through the browser/other methods.

4. Please don't "curate" games added to the site as much as GOG, especially with games people are willing(shown via some wishlist like voting system perhaps or forum posts maybe) to buy.....but also perhaps don't allow in as many as steam.

5. If you can get them, please add more "adult themed" games....GOG has been seemingly squeamish about this(likely due to wanting to keep their image more "clean" than other such stores/sites) and because of that one cannot get such games DRM free here for the most part, and the ones here are usually more or less "watered down".

Some misc. suggestions:

1. Try to make downloading games easy for people(if it isn't already)......allow people to DL their games as one file(zip all files need in one file/etc) for the game and one file(ditto) for extras if possible, AND also allow people to be able to DL such files(game parts, extras) individually as well.

2. Try to make sure the store/site works in as many popular browsers as possible....GOG seemingly supports few browsers fully & many times the GOG staff's reply to people's browsers(even popular ones) not working is to use one of the few that work.
(Of course this could be tied to the cheap coding problem of the site talked about above)

-----------------------------------------------------------

I likely am forgetting some...will update if and when I think of more.

(I would post them to the discord, but I don't have an account and don't want to make yet another account for another site atm, and one cannot post as a guest to that discord)

So how long before the Zoom Platform gets a completely optional client there, there are loads of hipsters raring to move over to the new “it is steam but not called steam” thing.

Thanks. But what I meant was can I even add them to my account without downloading them. Some sites don’t work well on mobile, you need an actual PC. But yes, clicking download on mobile does not actually try to download them, but does add them to your account there.
I like that their system of downloading offline installers is very similar to what we (at least non-Galaxy users, can't speak for Galaxy) are used to here. Link to the main file(s), then on the right side of the page links to various extras like manual, guides, video, etc.

Since you're already a member of their Discord, please ask them to get in touch with Cleve to release Grimoire!

Maybe also ask them about Detention, since the devs seem reluctant to put their game on gog and I'd be interested if they simply don't want to publish anywhere but on Steam (and Playism, but they outright deny the existence of a DRM-free build unless confronted about Playism) or if they're having issues with gog in particular.
we could suggest games that GOG has rejected, I might do that. noticed they have Warzone 2100 (free of course) too, that's cool :)

You should create a Discord account and ask them personally, in case you think of other games to request in the future.

Their copy of Warzone is based from the 2.3.8 release of the open source project just fyi you can still get the game for free from https://wz2100.net/ there is a steam release as well, but someone else is doing that and they have no connection and refuse contact with the wz2100.net project crew for some reason, so I cannot confirm the safety of the steam release, I however beta test for wz2100.net and can verify that one.
