I like ZOOM Platform as much as the next person, but a few here including yourself, are being overly defensive when it comes to Devotion.

I honestly don't know how you can get one out of the other.

At the end of the day, they have just uttered words, truthful or not, well considered or not.

All I am saying, is that it is a taking a suspicious amount of time to do the deal ... which makes any reasonable person think. You don't like what I think, which isn't written in concrete, fair enough, but don't start putting words in my mouth or attributing fanciful notions to me as my claims.

You can't promote something or promote yourself based on something...while also trying to be under the radar about it.

It's like if you tried and promote yourself as rational but then also lashed out when questioned over contradicting statements!

Yes, I agree. There are games out there whose values I don't personally agree with and I don't mind being alienated by them. Not all games were targeted at my demographic and it'd be pretty entitled for me to expect them to.

Yes, agreed. Exactly why I said "good portion". As with life, there are greys here. Conducting a random survey for support for this game in China would illegal, so we don't understand the distributions. In 2020, China represented 3% of GOG's sales (p.72). If this is revenue, then they contributed $2.8M USD to GOG's total revenue.

Because their market is growing (1.4% y/y) and there's a lot of money to be made ($13.9 billion USD annual), it doesn't make much sense to alienate a portion of that from a business standpoint. Unless you know for sure your business can grow and be sustained by non-Chinese demographics in the future, which is tough considering the saturation of multiple digital distribution platform players in the market right now.

You really need to get a better grasp of the English language, and consider what exactly is said and what isn't.

I never said they did it deliberately to take advantage, it possibly just happened that way.
Those factors aren't mutually exclusive, as like I said, until they actually provide Devotion, it is just words ... and maybe, just maybe, they have had second thoughts after pondering more upon it ... etc.

Anything else you want me to spell out for you, that a little more deep thought without bias blinkers could determine?

And listen mate, I responded, not to be a smart arse, but because you denigrate GOG and praise ZOOM Platform over Devotion, without any credible evidence to present for either position. Just all based on guesses and emotion and no doubt some bias.

All I have done is point that out and point out possibilities, while claiming nothing concrete.

I'm not criticizing the ZOOM Platform, only those who are looking at the situation through filtered glasses.

More competition is always good for consumers since theoretically, GOG or Zoom will be battling out over the scraps of gaming in the DRM-free game pool. Just look at all these free games all these platforms are offering every week.

If they think there's a market out there for DRM-free games for Gen Xers and if people want to boycott this platform because of the Devotion scandal, all the power to them. Consumers are more than welcome to vote with their wallet. Though I'm also weary of the constant jabs towards GOG in other threads as they're incredibly unwarranted and intrusive.

More like the whole Devotion debacle overshadows what should be more important reasons to be interested in Zoom, ideally as a GOG competitor but more realistically as finally another place for a niche crowd interested in GOG's original values (both of them, DRM free and no regional pricing) and mainly looking for older games.

The new website looks much better now. Now lets hope more games come out more frequently and on a consistent basis.

Everything on Zoom is DRM-free... Though I'd sure feel a bit more at ease if they'd put that mark back on the front page.
