Does anybody know of any good Zelda-style games on PC? Either 2D or 3D. If it reminds you a bit of Zelda in some way I want to know about it. My childhood itch needs scratching.

Ys 1 & 2 might work for you.

Binding of Isaac comes to mind, it draws alot of inspiration from the first Zelda game on the NES.

Definitely recommend Darksiders (2 particularly as I've yet to play 1), really great Zelda-like with an interesting world and story and some loot collecting and RPG elements.

Played a bit of Oceanhorn, but while it is Zelda-like it also shows that it's a mobile port.. it just feels a little cheap and soulless...

Oceanhorn does an uncanny job of looking like a Zelda game. It might do the job, though there’s not as much going on under the hood.

The first Fable: The Lost Chapters always felt a bit Zeldarish to me, even without the blatantly obvious chest openings. Aside from used physical copies I think the only way to buy it is on Steam. Wouldn't recommend Fable Anniversary, it’s a poor re-mastered version for the price.

Doesn't get any more Zelda-like than Zelda Classic.

Thank you very much for that linked list! I found some ones on there (that I even own already from Steam sales of yore) so I'll be finding something to play for now. I remember trying Zelda Classic way back before 1.0 and then completely forgot about it. I'm amazed at how far it's come. Definitely saving this for later. Thanks heaps!

Back in the day Graal was like Four Swords-ish, but they went the pay-to-play route after a while I think.
Is Treasure Adventure Game Zelda-ish or more Metroidvania?

I'd say Treasure Adventure Game is more Metroid-vania. Although Zelda II definitely had some Metroidvania elements.

Eliot Quest is very Zelda II-ish.

Blood Omen is basically Zelda mixed with gothic horror. Will take some bother to get running, though.

I'm going to get the piss beat out of me for this one but I strongly feel if the original Zelda and the original NES Goonies had a kid it would be UnEpic.

That makes UnEpic 50% Zelda and thus deserving of this thread.

My two favorite games, Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 , have some Zelda-like qualities. You play in an essentially open world with some areas off limits until you get far enough into the plot or you find the items needed to advance. In order to advance you do have to explore, experiment, interact with npc's and solve puzzles. Items you find will allow you to perform new actions and might allow you to do new things in areas previously visited. Thus you'll have to do some backtracking every once in a while to see if you can find some more stuff in old areas.

Some people don't like the controls though. You move forward by pressing the up-key and turn by using the left- and right-key. It might feel strange at first but you should pick it up soon enough.

I have only played the Zelda games available on the gameboy color though. I.e. Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons.

Actually, especcially Soul Reaver 2 comes to mind when I'm asked about PC games like Zelda.
It shares a lot of the mechanics with Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past, has great graphics for its age and has a design and storyline that blows every Zelda game completely away.

Blood Omen 1 is right next on the list although I haven't really played this one very far due to technical problems with the PC version. It seems to need a drive that is formatted to FAT32 in order to run stable from what I've read later. Hopefully GoG's team will sell a Win95, FAT32, etc... calibrated WINE package of it some day.

Soul Reaver 1 is great for canon but you get lost in it very easy, it took me several tried to finally beat it without getting lost and I had the same problems again years later in the next run.

The others (Blood Omen 2, Defiance) are a bit too much on rails to be counted imho, although they were fun.
