It's not actually a picture of me, but it is pretty close to what I look like.
There was a thread a couple of years ago in which someone asked people to post actual pictures of themselves, and several people complied, but I'll be damned if I can find it in the archive.
I might... then again I might not... :P

Tis here. It's actually not in the archive, surprisingly enough.

Wow that is surprising, I honestly thought that that thread had been buried.
If i had the right motive...

tinyE: I'll be honest, I Photoshopped the Santa hat on.
I though you were a real Santa Claus.
I almost have the real thing. Instead of cigar, cigarette and a bigger beard

@TinyE, I knew something was wrong with the pic.
@Azhdar, TinyE ain't no Santa. He's the prince of being comfortably dumb

EDIT: fixed typos

No, but I wish that forums had the ability to set avatars for other people so you can keep them static. Much easier to notice who it is based upon consistent and unique avatars than reading some random forum user name. It's weird that I've never seen this feature, whenever it has been brougth I'm rarely alone in demand for it.

That pretty much describes my situation too.
A friend of mine uses an actual picture of himself as avatar, but he doesn't post on the forum. I'm pretty sure though if he started he wouldn't change his avatar for that.
I probably would.. if this were a social / meetup / dating site.

My current avatar definitely doesn't look like me in real-life (after all I don't think Christmas trees would be able to post into forums or anything...), but I've used a couple avatars in the past that did kind of look like my real self. here -that 2nd one gets my current hair length even more right than the 1st one -I cut my hair once every 4 months or so to the length of the 1st avatar, and in their longest they have the length of the 2nd- and also the approximate right eye color (my actual eye color is dark brown instead of light). But I also wear glasses in real-life (even though I can see decently enough without them) and both avatars don't (opting for eyepatches instead), and also they represent a person slightly younger than my current age imo, so anyways these are more "kind of looks like me", than "omg, it's my doppelganger!"...
Of course, it's just a very low resolution pic!
Using my own picture as avatar? Well, I don`t like to produce inferiority complexes here! I mean, many of you would get despaired if they would see a big blonde, blue eyed and very handsome guy. I fear that some of you couldn`t stand it and that some would commit suicide. So I better not show myself here, it`s only to protect yourselves!!
Oh, and a little bit to protect my privacy!! :-)
You got me, that's not me in my avatar. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date with a certain salt lick.
