Darvond: Well, you've got the lazy rehash "remasters" for a start. (Said tongue in cheek.)
It just seems par for the course these days.

I do a lot of reading, and there is oodles of great stories out there, likely far beyond what I am aware of. And often it is only the Indie makers who are capitalizing on the new, while many big publishers and developers waste their time on remaking known successes. I would have thought that was soul destroying as a creator. And of course that silly state of mind is not limited to Games. I honestly don't know where they get their motivation from ... unless it is just to put bread on the table or get a foot in the door ... improve their CV I guess.

Shadowstalker16: That's dedication. Did you have the fire damage -enhancing gauntlets that you get in the special edition? I've estimated that a fire-based all magic build would be quite feasible with that. An all mage build and a build that meaningfully uses necromancy is all I've left to do in that game I think. Do you think there are any unique things to do other than those? Sniper, slayer, 1 and 2 hand experts seem to be quite easy and is possibly the way the game was meant to be played and I've exhausted them.
Nope. And did say Smite / Fortitude, not fire. And no idea of unique things, just did my usual thing, always play mages if possible, so played a mage and did what I had to do to finish the game. Not replaying anything.

I guess it's that "it's just work" mindset. Not being creative, but just treating it as a job like any other and going through the motions. Awful (and it's awful for said other jobs too).

I see. I asked because smite is half fire damage and a bonus to that would help a lot. What were your starting stats and race? I always picked Feralkin but in hindsight that seems like the worst way to do a mage build.

Indeed.

Bring on the robots and let all humans enjoy being creative instead of working.

I can imagine a world where nobody works except robots ... not that humans are sitting around being idle. I'd expect humans to be fully engaged inventing, creating, exploring, playing, reading, watching and learning .... experiencing for want of a better description.

*nods* Robots for what would still need to be done, but first eliminating what doesn't, considering how much useless work is being created now, and how much is actually harmful, just to maintain the cycle of production, consumption and exploitation. And we should be there already. And those who would be idle at least wouldn't harm, as many currently do, some of them while working.
But we're getting way off topic.

Sylvant, but can't really recall the rest. Think Wind Ancestry, and those low STR/END scores I mentioned. Probably maxed INT/CHA. Not sure of others.
And this is also off-topic.

Well to be fair, my gut has been saying there is something wrong and missing with the status quo for years. ;)

Funny, as my current SaGa 2 remake playthrough is with an all robot party. The only humans that are ever in the party are guest party members, who are only in the party briefly and not all the time (not at the point I'm currently at, for exampel).

(It's also an interesting experience, playing an RPG with turn based combat where the only way to get stronger is to equip better items, and there's a wide variety of equipment available to allow for diverse builds.)
I can imagine a world 5 years later where nobody knew how to fix the robots ... humans died out :)

Are you certain you were sober, of sound mind & body, or remembered to use the "reply to post" button to proper contextualize your thoughts?

Thanks for the info, I need to try it. It may be OT but at least we talked about such an obscure game :D

Clearly a flawed world that. In a proper arrangement, robots would fix robots ... humans are only responsible for creativity, not robot fixing.

That's what my gut tells me anyway.

I totally agree with you
