Its a bit difficult to have a walker that doesn't have human or animal design features.

Unless we're talking Martian tech.
Ooooooo Laaaaa

Yeah, I had hesitated to mention them actually. But their shape is a bit too blurry, between all the available illustrations (not many of which contradict the text). But I liked the Spielberg and the Moore/O'Neill designs. The half-life2 thingies were not far from that either...

For scouting I´d rather go with Vicki MK-I :D.
My favorit is this beauty:

KD-07 Windom BlackComb

It is from Ultimate Knight Windom XP, and the name's BlackComb. It is basically a mech shaped weapons platform. If it is a strong weapon in the game, and if even a single one is heavy to use effectively... then you can be sure the BlackComb have two from that weapon. :D

But Xenogears is cool too.

Oh, I remember this game. This was my only mech game when my PC wasn't able to run the MechWarrior 3 (or 4, I don't know which one I had back then) for some reason. Really nice mech, but I love the "mechanical wings) more than anything other. :D
From games, I remember the mech suits in Jak 2 and Jak 3 being really fun segments. And not game related, but I loved watching Metabots when I was a kid. Not the kind of robots you can pilot yourself, but still very cool designs. Each one felt like it had it's own unique personality. And earlier today I watch a Youtube clip from an anime mech movie from the 80's called Macross: Do You Remember Love. It was just a quick fight scene between several robots that transformed from fighter jets and it was incredibly well done, both from an animation/mech design stand-point and just genuinely good filmmaking. It was very cool.

But just wings isn't enough, it should be mounted on a large mech. And when I mean large, I think about a 200 t monster, like that BlackComb. Also I not like the Gundam, it is so depressive.
