Out of curiosity: which are the games you can't do without? Name three.

Mine:

Starsector - Starsector site
Caves of Qud - GoG
Rimworld - Rimworld site

Edit: OK, my bad. How about games played in 2020? Any game prior to that date is allowed.

And; "Can't do without", as in a manner of speaking, not literally; so the ones you really like...

Pro pick here.
I'm a super big fan of how the "satire" option gets greyed out when things start going down.
The devs really do think of everything.

If I am being serious, in these times there are no games which I would I like that much.
Closest thing was X-COM: Enemy Within, but I finished it already:)

Can't do without? I may be a pathetic no-life, but come on.

Anyway, there's so many games in my backlog and on my wishlist already I won't get to the ones from 2020 until 2022. And even that is optimistic given how I'm playing a 2016 expansion to a 2015 game right now.
Seeing as i haven't played a game for weeks now i think i can live without any game just fine. As for favourites ? they are changing all the time but any crpg is always a nice bet for me.

My laptop can't even run most games published after 2010. And we're only in May, normally that kind of question is asked at the end of the year.
I've yet to see anything from 2020 that I want to buy.

One thing I definitely will buy is Higurahsi Ch 8, which is to be released in two days on MG.. I don't know if it'll release on GOG the same day but I'm sure it will be here since we have all the previous chapters.

Of course, that's just a new translation of a 2006 title.
Add-on: OK, my bad. How about games played in 2020? Any game prior to that date is allowed.

I've only played and completed three "new" games in 2020 anyway:
Quest for infamy, Whispers of a machine: both pretty meh; didn't like the puzzles in Quest for infamy (too obscure), combat was ridiculously easy and didn't add anything; Whispers of a machine had lame puzzles (too easy actually)...story was mediocre and bland in both.
Also played A legionary's life...interesting game, intriguing concept. Can't say I'm a fan of permadeath mechanics though.
None of them are favorites of mine though.

EDIT: Also tried to play Desperados: Wanted dead or alive, but quite in Level 8 or so. That game has bs design imo, nowhere close to the brilliance of the Commandos games (even Commandos 3 was more fun for me than Desperados).

Iris and the Giant from GOG
and Trials of Mana from steam
I feel like Terrarias 1.4 update is going to be amazing as well, though thats just speculation. The 5 years of development time promises very good things.

The person before me said this but I also think Trials of Mana/Seiken Densetsu 3D is great. Its the best game to talk with nostalgic friends about. I would love to see it on here even if a release on here is impossible.

The best game that came out to nobodies suprise is Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord though. That game is simply incredible to say the least. Its too bad its only in early access and not a full release. Knowing the developers I know that they will take much longer than they state (about 1 year in Early Access). Even considering the the 8 years of active waiting this game is simply absolutely stellar regardless. Shame about the lack of a proper GOG release.

What is stellar about bannerlord? I played one build, it’s just m&b with a better overland map, and larger battle size. I didn’t get to sieges which are meant to be better. But other than that it’s just a graphic upgrade to m&b. Did not notice anything new.
Was missing npc’s. Archery was a pain (click to load arrow, click to start cursor, click to fire, real downgrade from m&b’s archery).
I mean it’s nice enough, but nothing wow about it, especially for 10 years dev time to get to a demo.
At least 5years more dev time. Then another year or two before the good mods come out (PoP for instance), so hardly 2020, more like 2030!

Most played this year would be Mario Golf 64 and Doom II + mods/wads. I can't really think of a third one I can't do without this year, but I've enjoyed Dark Souls II as well.

Honestly the only 2020 release I can think of that I have played is Doom Eternal. It was okay, but I liked 2016 more. Too many gimmicks, too much focus on cooldowns and special abilities. I'll get around to RE3 Remake eventually but I haven't even done RE2 yet.

Not even sure when the next 2020 game I want is coming out. I know Cyberpunk in the Fall, but sooner than that... hmmm...
