What I could surmise from it was that:

1. The GOG patches are provided by some third-party company, not Capcom. So it isn't apparently about Capcom's reluctance but something else. Not sure who provides patches for the Steam version then, the same or some different third-party company?

2. The main "issue" with the GOG version is some online stuff (pawn sharing with online friends? No idea whatsoever what that is.) that affects merely achievements.

So if that is all there is to it, I personally am fine even if it doesn't have the latest patches. I have the game on GOG already.

I would try it out but I have no suitable computer right now to try it out on. From what I read this problem appears maybe on or after the halfway point in the game, the problem has something to do with having an insufficient number of Pawns but I could be wrong.

I do hope that this is just some sort of online problem unrelated to the actual single player part of the game but by the time I get done with this (I play these open-world types real slow story-wise), it will have been patched.

I think everything everybody says without referencing the source is their opinion and should not be additionally declared.

GOG sells lots of games that are vastly inferior/gimped compared to the versions of the same games that are on Steam. Some of them even have new multiplayer patches on Steam for games that are over 10 years old while the GOG versions are left without them.

There's no excuse for that either. If a game has Achievements on Steam, then it should also have them on GOG, period. GOG customers are not second-class citizens, so it's time the devs stopped treating them as if they are. GOG should stop allowing the sale of all games on its platform that are in any way inferior to their Steam counterparts.

Yes,you are correct.In the long run,with word spread around it will only harm them and cannot possibly be a benefit to sales.This is a must fix,if they wish to compete against the rest.The bare minimal factor should be get ALL games up to date.If unable then they should let people know that a game is not up to date with a short note or tag.Then the buyer can make up their own mind to whether to purchase or not.
