valiant243: This is the full announcement trailer. Maybe you'll feel better (or worse) after watching it?
Well, at least I guess I get what they're going for now- some sort of half-LARP half imagine you're playing it at your local game store thing... I guess. I still don't much like it. I don't get why not stick simply to The Witcher aesthetic without mixing it with real world (and the artwork is still simply poor), but it's a matter of taste probably, and others might like it.

valiant243: It has single player adventure mode if you don't want to go online. You only need internet connection to download the single player campaign and if you purchase items, else it's free to play.

mrkgnao: Are you sure? The FAQ you linked to reads:
"Can I play GWENT in single player mode?
In a nutshell: yes, but not during the upcoming Beta.".
Yeah, read the same...paint me confused.

Edit..Mmmm carn't copy paste from galaxy...that's fucking annoying.

As far as I understand, at the moment it's a free-to-play multiplayer game with in-game purchases.
Some day it might include a single-player campaign.
Some day I might be interested.

Same boat, doesn't offer me anything at this point, crappy, as it's not like it has loads of competition.
One day indeed...

I'm just hoping for good artwork animation, even if it's only on the foil or certain cards.

Well Aya, Beta is just a test not the same as game release. So that's what will start from Sept and I'm still not sure if in-game purchases will be part of the Beta, or whether credits or real cash has to be involved. After release, it will definitely has a single player campaign so you can look forward to that.

Sidenote: That pic really brings back the memories.

At this point, it's just a Beta test which will start in Sept. It isn't a game release yet, just mainly testing on the online components: PvP, matchmaking, social aspects and such. That's what you will be signing up for. As for competition, have you heard of Hearthstone?

No, that's what i'm not signing up for, and yes i know of Hearthstone, i will be more succinct.
There is little competition here on GoG........

I don't mean you you, just whoever is reading or signing up. No need to get feisty and more words is the opposite of being more succinct.

You win i give in...

Only if you give GWENT a try down the road, else it's a draw. =)
avatar
haydenaurion: No front page annoucement on gog yet?
avatar
JMich: Considering that Gwent offers in app purchases, I doubt it will be coming here.
I don't see why not... that doesn't equate to DRM. You can have both in app purchases and still be DRM free as long as some form of a single player portion is available offline, which it will have. Granted it's not something GOG has done before but I could see them doing it here for sure, or at-least testing the waters. Honestly it's small games like this that have the potential to be popular that I would love see be exclusive to GOG on PC, which GOG needs to set itself apart from Steam.

With MS and PS being more open with cross play among each other and on PC, there is no reason GOG Galaxy's servers couldn't be the backbone for this.

From the Submit Your Game page:
I am the publisher of a big F2P title - can I get it onto GOG?
Right now GOG does not distribute free to play titles, or any titles with a microtransaction payment system.

And that was posted a long time ago and besides it says "right now"... doesn't mean it won't change.

Having a brand new game made by your parent/sister company and not having it for sale or available it your own store front would just look bad all around...

Finally found a good video of the announcement.

You can learn a few things from watching it, such as which factions, length of single player campaign and ability to craft cards.
