Good luck, bro! Your post was a wake up call for me too. I got over 100kg lately and I reached a point where I said ok enough is enough. I joined a gym today and started with some light exercise. The good thing is that a new start made me feel good and I have motivation to build a good body. All those yoga pants I saw today in the gym helped lift me up too :D
Go for it mate. After you lose a few kilos you'll be surprised how much better it makes you feel.

My cousin was a huge guy in all dimensions. He went through a very impressive weight loss in the last couple years and he's just entering the acceptable range. After losing about 15 kg he told me: " I didn't realize how much all that fat was negatively impacting my life. It is like I was carrying three rice bags — commonly sold in 5kg bags here in Brazil — everywhere. It's no wonder I was always tired". He kept losing weight and he's much happier now.

I hope his story can give you a little incentive if you ever need some. Good luck man.

Ha! That explains y i'm always feeling tired cos i'm also carrying an extra 3 bags of 'rice'. Lol. I dun hope (or rather harbour hopes) of getting rid of all 3 bags but i think i sure shd be able 2 lose @ least 1 or 2 (preferred of cos).

Anyway, just 1 2 wish all those who wld like 2 lose weight that they can hit their target & also 2 give a little encouragement to all of us (yes, me included) 2 persevere on although we all know it ain't gonna be ez.

Lastly, i wld also like 2 thk all who gave their valuable advice on cutting those excess fats. I enjoyed reading all the comments & if mine doen't work out hopefully i'll hv better luck trying out 1 of those suggestions here. Haha. ;D

So good luck in your weight loss effort too. Hopefully you can eventually serve as a positive example for people going through the same problem.

Thks, i hope so 2 but it's still early days 4 me & i hvn't really seen any/much visible improvements yet. Hopefully i'll soon in a couple more weeks, wish me luck! Haha. ;p
Let me try to be useful here. First of all, realize that if you have been gaining weight recently, you first need to stop gaining weight. Just like your car does not go from 55 to reverse in an instant, you should not expect to see lower values no your scale within the first month. Do not get demotivated by it and give up now.

The second thing I would like to say to you is to star forming good habits and make an effort to stick with them. You will come with great excuses — fight them! (But do try to establish habits you can realistically keep up). No “I'll make up for it tomorrow”. Do it, and do it ASAP.

As Fairfox said, do some exercise that shows you the number of calories you are burning. Then look at the caloric content of the food you intend to buy or eat. Sure this chocolate bar looks tasty, but is it really worth 30 minutes of hard exercise? Perhaps not.

Finally — and you are already doing something similar, but I think it could be better — do some public commitment. Say “I'm setting this goal. If I fail, I'm going to <something you really don't want to do>”. But be upfront about it so that you know that people will be aware should you fail. For example, “If I exceed 88 kg by the end of March or I'll donate $50 to the Tories party, and I really hate those guys.” You do not want to fail publicly, you don't want to lose that money and you don't want some nasty folks to get your money, so that is extra incentive to put you in line and help you associate weight gaining behaviours with bad thoughts.

I wish you luck, xyem.
I lost some weight in recent year or two by getting employed, drinking a lot of coffee and usually not eating anything during the work hours. :D
Now I'm not one to say much about this due to having never needed to lose weight, my issue being the opposite, having always been underweight, usually quite dangerously so. But what I (think I) know is that, while exercise is great for health reasons, it may not be so effective at actually losing weight and keeping it off, for the simple reason that it takes a whole lot of effort to burn even small amounts of actual fat (the initial losses are largely just water going out as sweat), and said effort makes you hungry and feeling weak, which drains your mental resolve as well. So what matters more is reducing the calorie intake, obviously ideally without hurting nutrition. Seem to remember nutritionists who lost weight with junk food and/or gained with health food just to prove that it's just a matter of calories, any other diet "rules" mattering all too little. That said, stuff to munch on with a good volume / weight ratio and which also requires picking up bit by bit can help, and remember popcorn (plain, no butter or sugary stuff or whatever else, and peferably made the old fashioned way, in a pot, not the microwave stuff or ready made) being seen quite well from this point of view, since a little of it goes a long way. Corn puffs can work too, after it, I guess.

And I'm in for the giveaway too :)

Just to clarify since a few of my clients also insist on this, that's Apple Cider Vinegar:

I really need to start doing my walking again.

Thanks for making this giveaway. I have two pieces of advice. My first piece of advice is: Don't get discouraged if you don't lose weight very quickly. People are actually less likely to keep the weight off if they lose a lot of weight very quickly. This leads into my second piece of advice: Make sure that you're losing weight in a healthy way. It's far better to lose weight gradually and in a healthy way, as opposed to losing weight in an unhealthy way, which defeats the main purpose of losing weight in the first place.
