XYCat: Maybe it's time to download all the installers for everything you bought here and delete your gog account.
avatar
Breja: Yeah, clearly being tired of GOG pushing their spam means I should delete my account. Very logical. Much sense.

avatar
wolfsite: Then leave, if you are not happy go somewhere else.
avatar
Breja: Anyone else? Come on, the more the merrier!

How dare I criticise the almighty stupor mundi that is GOG! Leave! Go away! Be gone, heretic! We feel filthy in the presence of such a blasphemer!
Seriously, you don't discuss an issue, you just belittle anyone you has an opinion that is different from yours even if they do sympathize. This is why I don't support the "cause" you have because you spend more time attacking other people than actually talking about things. You can criticize all you want, but showing respect is a two way street.

firstpastthepost: Judging from all of your comments it seems like using this service makes you very unhappy. I’m not entirely sure why you choose to continue to do something that makes you so unhappy. Doesn’t make much sense to me.

ssling: Assuming he is Polish, we simply love that kinds of things. More reasons to complain, the better.
This guy gets it! I don't want GOG to go back to being the way it was when I recommended it to all my friends, I don't want it to maintain a truly DRM-free policy, I don't want it to reject chinese censorship, I don't want it to communicate well with the user base, I don't want features like the GOG mixes back and I don't want them to lay off the marketing spam already - I actually want them to fuck up something more so that I can complain :D

I have discussed all the issues I have with GOG, at length, in detail, multiple times. But hey, it's easier to say I don't.

Also, I'm very curious in what way I disrespected you guys by saying that I don't want GOG's spam :D I wasn't addressing any user at all, and still was told to GTFO. I guess some fanboys take anything said against GOG very personaly :D

Swearing, talking down to people, using sarcasm to dismiss someone else's viewpoint or comment, calling people DRM supporters just because they are not as mad as you are.
Doh, seems I bought it in december :)

I re-read Breja posts in this thread to make sure I did not miss any.
I found no trace of anything that could support what you wrote here.
Thanks for giveaway and free game!
Thank you so much for this giveaway! I was hoping for this. I had XIII in my wishlist ever since it returned to GOG last year or so.

Well, imo Breja is not completely wrong (no matter how often people downrate his posts) - maybe his words were a little harsh but his argument imo is valid. Is somebody out there who could explain to me WHY GOG decided to make subscribing to their newsletter a REQUIREMENT for a FREEBIE? Especially since you have the option to opt out afterwards - it hasn't been this way before, so it's obviously not a technical "issue". The only reason for this I can imagine is that they kind of hope that people don't unsubscribe or forget. Is this what we expect or want from GOG, the one store who stood for being truthful and honest to us? No, that's not typical of GOG ... at least the old GOG some oldtimers know. I already subscribed to the newsletter a long time ago so I did not feel forced to do so - so I personally don't have a problem here ... but I completely understand those who have.

When people like Breja complain about this or other things it does not mean that they hate GOG it's probably because they are sad to see so many bad signs that GOG seems to change to something they might dislike in the end. Might not be today, might not be tomorrow but it might happen. We all know that GOG already dropped many of their core principles and we all know that GOG communication also went down instead of improving (which is what was promised a few years ago) ... so these are other signs that GOG is changing ... but unfortunately not to their best and knowing GOG I guess they won't even realize this until it is too late and people REALLY will start to dislike GOG and delete their account.

What I wanted to say with (far too many words) is that there's a thing called "construcive critizism". Telling people what's bad does not mean automatically that they hate it here and that they want to leave - in most cases the opposite is the case: they remember how it was and hope to prevent that it will turn into something they can't stand at all. Being silent in such a case might not be the best idea and leaving also does not help their cause at all. I am pretty sure that most of those who really hate GOG with a passion already left.

On the topic itself: If you already own the game you will get a gift key you can gift or donate to one of the giveaways for others to be happy.

I honestly don't care what people think of GOG or it's game delivery platform.

I do find it very sad that people who say they hate something so bad, still take the time to display their anger over the option to download a "free" game. It would have been easier to just not click the link and ignore it completely.

We live in a crazy world where people do things that bring them misery, just to display contempt or anger. We have a choice to chose to add the game or not. Just like all the info-stealing apps on your smart devices, all the web sites you go to, all the info-sites we log into, even the maps and location ID we have elected to give companies permission to use. Ever use an online service? You gave up some of your rights.

This is a game. You can chose to get it for "free" or elect to have nothing to do with it. It's a simple choice and doesn't need arguments, berating, or insults.

If you're going to discuss aspects of the game, by all means drop your dis-satisfaction or enjoyment. Other people here are not "enemies". We all are just gamers trying to enjoy what little pleasures we can find in life.

I'm personally adding it.

Already have a retail copy from a PC magazine, but thanks for the digital freebie. XIII was the only good game made with "cell-shading" !

There’s no issue with people being critical of gog or anyone else. My point is that the vast majority of your posts in the forum are complaints about gog. That, to me, indicates a serious dislike of the service. Most normal people would quit using a service if they found it so distasteful that they felt the need to criticize everything about it.

I think you have every right to complain about things you dislike and many of the things I’ve seen you complain about are valid. A lot of the things I’ve seen you complain about seem to be minor or not really issues. This is a perfect example of that. Asking you to sign up for a newsletter to get something free isn’t a onerous or terrible practice. It’s a marketing strategy that’s easy for you to game. Demanding that you get free stuff only on your own terms is pretty entitled. I’m not trying to be insulting or say you shouldn’t speak your mind. I just don’t understand your motivation.

GOG is obviously causing you much grief in your life, you complain about it daily, it represents everything you hate, and apparently it's even to blame for your own laziness. Deleting your GOG account would most likely have a positive impact on your life.

But then again what would you do with your time, right?

There's a joke in here somewhere about not even being able to giveaway the XIII remake...

Sarcarsm! Oh my god I used sarcasm! What have I become!?

And yeah, I think "delete your account" is a "viewpoint" I'm perfectly justified to dismiss.

Also, I'm not mad. I just like to wear a fancy hat on my unbirthday.

Yes, I imagine it is. I, however, did not demand a single, solitary thing. I just said I won't take the game under GOG's conditions. And that I have no wish to "game the system". Which, if anything, is the direct opposite of being entitled. I could basically lie to GOG and take the game anyway, but I don't. Because I do not feel entitled to it. Only to rejecting the offer and pointing out why I dislike it.

But I guess it's more fun to run this House Un-GOG Activities Commity hearing against me, than to recognise the facts.

Wooow. Quite a reach you've got there. No idea what you're on about, but as long as you're having fun. By the way, I also weigh as much as a duck.

Maybe they should have threatend us with giving everyone a copy of the remake to make people sign up for the spam :D
