The Deralict "Claim" Can be Done at up to or around 50 m.

I did one at just Under that.

RDouglass1:
OK. You claim smaller ships where you got the pilot to bail in the same way. The other ships must be boarded though, a totally different procedure. Several of the derelict ships will be unique models that are not sold anywhere. That does not automatically mean they are superior.

If you sell a ship to a shipyard, they will pay only half price for anything onboard it, including cargo, shields, weapons etc.

It is a good idea to have the maximum allowed shields installed. I personally do not have a high opinion of the Mako.

Remember that stats for ships, even with the same name, differ between all three X3 games, so not same even between X3TC and X3AP.

I Agree, It is Good, but with only Two 5MJ Shields, It Pops Like A Baloon with a Needle...
I Just had another Very Interesting Issue, and have No Clue as to why this Happended...
I was In House Of Lights, and have been thinking of Starting Some Mines for Ore and Sylicon?? And Scanned a Couple of Asteroids in that System.

I Then Flew down toward Savage Spur to check the Asteroids there for Content, but, I docked on a Military base first to see about Hiring A Pilot for my Freighter. (Still Learning some of these Processes), Then Changed my mind, and Went to Galaxy Map, and Clicked again on The Command Center in House of Lights to Select Auto-Dock, Then Everything in House of Lights turned RED for me, and the Ships I have Waiting there...

I Reverted Back To an Auto-Save Game to change that status.

Is Scanning of Asteroids Illegal??

RDouglass1: Is Scanning of Asteroids Illegal??
No. The only thing you need to worry about when scanning asteroids are nearby pirates.

The kind of thing you are describing can happen in one of 3 scenarios.

1) You've claimed a ship which had attacked one of the commonwealth faction's assets and has been marked as a target for that faction's patrol fleets (this usually happens with pirate ships). This will automatically make you an enemy of that factions when said patrol fleets end up in the same sector as your newly targeted for destruction ship.

Getting out of this one is tricky. You either reload a save and forget about claiming the ship, or you claim it but sell it for at least some profit before any patrol fleets get in that sector and start treating you as a hostile.

2) You've claimed a ship which has messed up your default friend/foe settings. To correct this you need to go to Advanced -> Global Commands and reset the friend/foe status for each faction. Optionally you can then also transmit these settings to all your reachable properties.

3) You're repeatedly crashed or attacked a commonwealth ship and ignored its warnings (but I don't think that's the case). This can also happen if one of your AI controlled ships decides to go on a rampage and attack friendlies for some reason (though that is rare) or if one of your freighters accidentally crashes into a friendly ship and manages to destroy it by doing so. Save often, these things will happen once in a while :).

These are a couple of quirks you'll have to get used to in the X3 universe.

Thanks For That WinterSnowfall...
I could have Bumped another ship while Docking, or My Defender may have, but I did not see that happen.
I had Not Claimed any Ships in Recent Time Frame, and I am Flying a Freighter with No Guns...
My Freighter has had only a couple of 5MJ Shields until Recently, so it was usually me that exploded when I bumped anything.

Themken: Besides choosing an object on the mini-map, you can also click anywhere on it to set a waypoint AND in one of the X3 games they added the possibility to insert co-ordinates and order a ship to go there.
I Used this One Time, and it Worked, But Now I am Attempting to do the Same In Unknown Sector, and I Find No Place to Type In The Coordinates...
I Hit; Auto Pilot; Then, Command Console; Then, Navigation; Then Move To Position...

But This Time it will not let me put The Numbers anywhere.

Edit... I am In Unknown Sector, BUT, There are about 10 or 15 Unknown Sector Locations, so I Probably am in the Wrong One for what I Am Trying to Do.......

Some Times I Catch On Slowly about What is Happening...

After some Hours of Play, and Adding some of These Posts, With Reading a Good Deal of The Manual, I wanted to ask:

Is The Overall Plan for this Game To Eventually Take over all Systems in The Galaxy Map??

The overall plan is that you enjoy the game. If that involves a quest to take over everything in the map, good luck (you won't manage it). It's a sim, it's one of the most open world games there is, and there is a really free flowing environment. I suggest you make the quest of yours whatever you want to achieve.

There's a subplot in X3:R about a sector for sale, it was ages before I managed to buy that sector, even then required help from our friends here. It provided a nice goal for me.

RDouglass1: *snip*
Like wpegg wrote there is no real end goal. Sure there are some plots that you can follow but that's your decision.

I have not Played that long yet, but I have not seen anything about Buying systems.
The Manual Talks about Conquering a System, and then AI will move in to take it back...

I Placed a Couple Of Remote Satilites To Track Trade Prices, and Was Instantly Jumped By everyone in the System.
I got the Impression that THEY Thought I was Moving In...

I Play Mostly with Trade, and it is Hard to get around with Freighters if AI Hate you...
Is there any way To Lock Friendly on all Races??

I'm sure someone has made a mod for that, but no, there's no way to do it in the base games.

You have to work at your reputation with other races, both to be on friendly terms with them but also to get access to more advanced goods and ships from said races.

Different races will provide different means of gaining rep with them. Trading with a race usually provides a small rep boost. Attacking a race's enemies while in that particular race's sectors will also provide a rep boost - if you want to play a commonwealth-friendly trader, the easiest target to go after are pirates, but later on Xenon will do just as fine.

Doing missions issued by a particular member of a race is probably the best way you can gain a lot of rep with that race in a short amount of time.

Check out more about reputation and the ranking system here.

Hi RDouglass1

I would suggest that you try you read the extensive Faqs on this game here:

https://forum.egosoft.com/viewforum.php?f=2

the Ego forums are friendly places to ask questions too.

or possibly try visiting the GOG dedidcated forum here, they are friendly too

https://www.gog.com/forum/x_series#1538492168

For everyone else who have failed to miss the point

EGOSOFT are about to release a new game that will be steam exclusive.
Rather than Copy All of The above in Quotes, Thank You Everyone for the Information.

I Started out With Trade, and Explore, The eventually saw that I needed a Fighter or Two as Defense, which then seems to Knock Down My Rep all the way around.

This is the Point I have an Issue with. I Like The Game, and I Like To Play Games To Relax, and Un Wind. When They Get to the point that they are now Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, I no longer find that Relaxing, or Enjoyable.

The one Game I Found I was Fairly Good at the Fighting was The Freelancer I Mentioned Earlier, But Most Other Games I Fall Down Pretty Quickly. My Fingers do not work the keybowrd very well, and my dependance on the Mouse seems to be a short coming.
